Thanks nsa. I wasn't sure how long I could hold out. Denmark just came close after a corner was headed off the line. Denmark is bending and bending, but they won't break. Marta's speed has been very dangerous. For the most part, the Danish lines have held. It feels like the Brazilians are just toying with the Danish side.

Martas acceleration and pace with the ball is completely unique in the womens game.

i think this game (playing a solid european team) puts many things about brasil in the right perspektive ... not only in term of disadvantages but also about their good things ... a more realistic view to compare with other groups ...

I like the Denmark set pieces against Brazil. Too bad that last Brazil break was created by a handball.

I like seeing Marta smile. It looked like there may have been a handball in the box that was missed.

A lot of possession and some good shots from Brazil lately, but Brazil still hasn't really connected as they would like in that final third.

Great opportunity for Denmark on a break that goes wide right. Formiga may need to be subbed out for her mediocre play as of late. She has had a few turnovers.

Denmark is better than I thought.

Does anyone know how this would work if Denmark ties, in terms of the Oly. qualification for Sweden? If Denmark ties, do they still have to play v. Sweden or would Sweden lose an Oly spot?

Free kick for Denmark coming just outside of the box... same ref as the England/Japan game... nothing comes of it.

Denmark missing the Olympics and the second round while China will move on to the second round if the score holds

Well, that game sure must have had the Swedes biting their nails and wondering the same thing. It probably wouldn't gone down to goal differential, which I am sure Sweden would have lost with -2 (don't know Denmark's GD offhand-- shouldn't matter now, thank goodness)

Swedish tabloids reported that last night there was frantic text messaging from Swedish players to Marta, begging her to win the game.

Wow. This WC, at least in the opening round, has been a story of very early and very late goals winning games.

    Good times!

Good match - Brazil certainly has speed like no other women's team. DK played a decent match and fought until the end, I bet Pape will have nightmares about her miss in the beginning of the first half for years to come. Paaske Sørensen, Kathrine Pedersen (who now has more caps than any other Dane, Peter Schmeichel included) and Heidi Johansen anquored the DK team.

Did I hear it right - DK and Sweden in play off matches for the last olympic spot?

Denmark had no possession at all. Brazil controlled the whole time, but had nothing to show for it. Just couldn't finish today. Maybe the ball was too slippery from water.

Doesn't Sweden just go through, with 4 points from 1 win, 1 loss, and 1 tie, while Denmark will have only 3 points with 1 win and 2 losses?
