The only soccer lunatic she should fear would appear to be Clint Mathis.

MLS Lunatics? Evidently she has not been to an MLS game. Point her to Redskins game last night.

I guess Zambrano has found his scapegoat.

"Clint needs help, professional help," said Zambrano, who could not put into words what is wrong with Mathis. "I am not professionally qualified to identify what is wrong with him but Clint has some issues that he needs to deal with and we as a team need to deal with once the season is over."

Man. I remember bringing some of these issues up 18 months ago, having watched Clint act rather foolishly in a friendly (forget who against).

Then, of course, the now infamous issues surrounding the behind-the-scenes activity at the World Cup.

All those folks discounting the fact that Clint may have actually been benched for valid reasons:

I guess both Bruce and Zambrano are smoking from the same crack-pipe?

Zambrano is looking for a scapegoat for his pathetic coaching. The red card was bogus.

Mathis deserves a medal. No, make that a statue.

While I'm not like the people on BS who think American soccer fans are an endangered species, I do think they should count as wildlife and therefore be granted refuge at this proposed northern VA stadium.

I love how people are so concerned with "the wildlife" only after they've dug up the earth and ransacked the wildlife to build their freakin' dream home!

don't know if it was bogus, but could've honestly gone either way....easily...could've been a yellow or no card at all....i don't another ref would've given that a red....

but yes, oz found his scapegoat.......every player with an ego on the metro seems to have a problem with oz...who as far as i'm concerned, has the biggest ego on the team...

Maybe there's a SI cover jinx after all.

    Beware LD!

(To publicly say your player needs "professional help" is quite the statement. That can't be easy for any player to hear.)

btw, looked like a red to me, but we had that thread yesterday...

DC United can't even get practice fields built, much less a soccer stadium.

And who says building a soccer league in this country is easy?

Zambrano is trying to blame a year's worth of coaching idiocy on one silly Beckhamesque play by Mathis. Anyone buying that excuse is a fool.

Why do I get the feeling that Clint Mathis isn't the only person in that organization that needs professional help?

    Welcome to North VA!

I can't believe these people are protesting.

They're the exact same people who clog up soccer field parking and pollute with their oversized SUV's. Then hog all the fields and refuse to create anymore so it's near impossible to find a place to play a pick-up game with a few friends.

Lord knows we need more soccer fields in the Fairfax County.

    Stupid NIMBY mentality.

I also love here comment about Soccer lunatics and "criminals". Just because the fields may draw a more diverse group of people to your area doesn't mean that there's going to be a crime spree.

Another reason for the title, I'm ripped.

"Expectations were high for the Revolution in their first season. And soccer supporters kept the faith throughout a bizarre and chaotic season in which the Revolution struggled on and off the field, yet had a chance to qualify for the Major League Soccer playoffs on the final day of the season.

That Sept. 21, 1996, match was also significant for attracting the largest crowd to attend a stand-alone Revolution game - 38,633 at Foxboro Stadium.
Exactly six years later, the Revolution are in a similar position."

But it appears (as of now) the Revoution are still going to hold to their new "capacity" of around 22K. There are no ads to speak of and no pressure from the league itself. I'll be at the match and I'll be looking closely at the situation. If people are turned away on Saturday heads should roll....
