What! no. 11 has a straight path to goal and decided to slow down when he doesn't have anyone with him. Those mental errors have to resolve, otherwise, they will again be fighting to stay up.

Has Sargent dropped to midfield? Noticed he hasn’t been transitioning with the forwards since they came on.

Yeah, he's playing as a LM now. Maybe a little further forward.

Nifty footwork by Sargent to keep the ball inbounds.

Eventually it transitions into an attack where Crazy Chong scores.

Well done by Chong to make it 2-0. He's clearly the most talented player on the field.

Good 2nd half effort by Josh. We'll memory hole balking at a golden opportunity because of the goal, win, & growing into the game.

Agree. Positive that someone else will take pressure from Sargent.

Overall a positive performance from Sargent. Thankfully the goal means few will talk about his botched breakaway. As I recall, the same fixture from last season ended with Josh leaving the game early after struggling, so he’s improved on that. However it still is just a fourth division side; the challenge will increase for next week’s match.

I wonder if ESPN will still use the Bundesliga international feed for Dortmund games. They always have that ex Dortmund player who is a big homer for Dortmund but also pretty entertaining.

Not sure how much was his fault vs. Tactics, but the entire first half it just seemed like he and selke were waiting for long balls over the top that never worked, and were hardly played.

2nd half was so much better. Chong is good, and it looked like klassan helped open some space in the middle of the field as well. Osaka might be hugging the bench this year, he looked poor.

Sargent almost seems better on the wing. He had that great run that led to his atrocious pass, he had a nice run and cross that should have resulted in a goal by selke, and had his own goal. That's enough chances created for a half, even against a poor team.

Best part of this is that the manager is keeping him on the field. Last year, 60 mins, no goals, he's pulled. Kohfeldt wasn't lying in that his flexibility will be relied on more this year.

Played striker, left wing, and LM today. He was probably motm, slightly edging Chong.

I think that's often the case with young forwards. If they're on the wing, they're likely to see the ball more often, and have more time and space when they receive it. So, if they blow their first touch a little, or if they haven't taken in their surroundings before the ball comes to them, they still have a chance to make something happen. If either of those things is true in the center forward role, the ball turns over, rinse, repeat.

That Seike guy had the attitude of an Ibrihomivic but without the talent.
