Nah, I'm French and it's pronounced like [seau - chaux] ; what you heard might be due to the quality of the audio in the stream.

On the other hand, Auxerre is subject to debate...Some pronounce it [Ox-Air] and others [Ohs-sair] ; I think Guy Roux uses the second, so it might be the correct one.

Concerning Davies and Henry, the announcer said something like Charlie may have his inspiration taken from T.H. as he was running down the left hand side in the box and tried to shoot at the far post.

    Which means nothing.

Ask a German from Bavaria, another from Saxony, another from Thuringia, and another from Hamburg how to pronounce anything and you'll get four different answers.

My guess is both are probably correct depending on dialect. YMMV.

Really? Being a native French speaker living in France means nothing? I don't think that's reasonable.

France is not Germany. French is not German.

Just for you I went and rewatched the highlights and I never heard what the other poster claimed to hear. I very clearly heard the correct pronunciation of Sochaux, every time. This is not at all a knock against the other poster, of course, but someone who doesn't speak a word of a given language is going to hear a text in that language very differently than someone who does speak that language.

And let's not jump down the throat of overseas posters from countries where YAs play who are trying to be helpful.

It's show. Chateau, Sochaux. Same pronunciation. Assuming of course I'm pronouncing chateau correctly.

To run this into the ground even more, it's not really show or shoe. It's something in between.

    It's French.

As long as he doesn't play so-so at Sochaux, Charlie will be good to go.

Like I said, certain names are subject to debate for most French like Auxerre. Sochaux is not and it's been like that for decades !

    And it's pronounced ソショ :p

BTW, the derived adjective is sochalien (fem: sochalienne) ; that would make Davies the new Sochalian player I guess...
