Ream starts for Fulham in the Championship playoff final at Wembley against West London rivals Brentford.

Fulham are hoping to bounce straight back into the Premier League after being relegated last season.

A win for Brentford would see them back in the top flight for the first time since 1947.

Kickoff is at 2:45 PM Eastern on ESPN+.

Who are we rooting for? (I don't really care about Ream)

    Brentford for me.

Soccer as a whole is woefully behind other sports when it comes to analytics (English football in particular), so I'd like to see Brentford's project succeed.

Plus, I think Brentford has a lot more staying power in the Premier League. I expect Fulham to go straight back down if they win this thing, but I could see Brentford finishing on the lower end of mid-table.

Add the fact that Brentford hasn't been in the top division in 73 years, and they're moving to a new stadium next season...feels like it could be the start of a fascinating new era.

I mean, I really love Craven Cottage - took my old man there once, which was great. I'd love to really care about this match, but I'm strugglin'.

EDIT: now, if Luca had been getting minutes, it'd be a different story!

Brentford’s front three of Mbeumo, Watkins and Benrahma, are very dangerous. Fulham’s back line should be in for a real test.

Yup. This is a rough matchup for Ream, in the biggest match of the year.

You did root against Pulisic in the FA Cup final. Pretty sure you aren't personally responsible for the hamstring injury.

(Full disclosure: also a lifelong Arsenal fan)

No idea how Fulham managed to avoid getting a shot off there. Really felt like the opener was imminent.

Fulham have the better of play so far, so naturally this feels like it will be 1-0 Brentford against the run of play.

The color commentator just sort of told on himself regarding his lack of preparation for this. He said something to the effect of "Ream and Hector keep looking for each other, I bet if you look at the stats at the end, they'll have the most passes!"

Like...yeah, Ream leads the league in passes completed per match. His CB partner for half of the season is #2.

Championship Yellow card for Harrison Reed. Nasty tackle, full studs into the ankle.

Hector really looks improved during this run now that he's finally out of the Chelsea loan army. He has been on loan FIFTEEN times in his career. Fifteen. Before turning 28.

And he's clearly better than Ream right now, for my money.

okay call me crazy but I'm kind of split here... obviously I want the yanks to win and it's Fulhamerica et al.. however, it would be amazing to see Brentford in the Premiership for the first time ever and the top flight for the first time since I've been watching English football (the late 80s). Swapping Bournemouth for Brenford? That would be unbee-lievable!

Hoping for Ream to score and hold out gallantly as a dominant Brentford win on penalties... only to be so impressed, they take Timmy with them to the premiership. Fulham to sign half a dozen MLSers and come up next year...

A cagey first half comes to a close. Fulham had the better chances through the first 20ish minutes, but there wasn't much to talk about in the other 25.

These games have a habit of finishing 1-0 (4 of the last 7, plus a 0-0), so that's not super surprising.

Haven't seen any glaring defensive mistakes (w/ little for Brentford challenges), but he is making them in his passing, after dribbling into the openings to create opportunities.

Mediocre half for him & this playoff final. Nothing passes and not many ideas.

You're going to have to pick EITHER Fulham sign half a dozen MLSers OR Fulham get promoted next year. You can't get both, unless the half a dozen are Vela, Josef Martinez, Maxi Moralez, Jonathan dos Santos, Ike Opara, and Aaron Long ... and even that may not get it done...

    0-0 at the half.

Fulham have looked the better side, but it sounds like the last encounter between these two teams looked similar, with Brentford still coming out on top.

Massive free kick opportunity for Fulham to start the second half. 20-22 yards out.

    Kebano to take...SIDE NETTING

    Thought it was in.

Mitrovic fit enough for a 10-15 minute cameo at the end?
