Yellow to Barbosa for his continal protests about the physical play of Materazzi. Oh, he would never play dirty.

2-0 Inter goal by Recoba (44') on a header of a cross from Morfeo. Sounds like a beautiful goal. It's really a shame. Do you think Sporting could use JVP and Jardel right about now???

Technically, Inter DOES have Milan, but like Sporting, its star Brazilian striker wants to play elsewhere. First Rivaldo, then Jardel, now Ronaldo.....what the heck is in the Brazilian air these days. Things are not looking good for Portuguese clubs in Europe.

Sub for Sporting (59') - Kutuzov for Tonito

Sporting is just simply having trouble finishing.

Both Tonito and Quaresma had good opportunities.

Inter counters with a defensive switch: Cannavaro for Guly at 59'.

    Some interesting developments.

    72' Danny in for Quaresma

70' Beto's fine individual effort winds up going over the net.

68' Laszlo Bölöni was ejected from the game for his continual arguing over a yellow for Rui Jorge....the frustration is growing.

67' Vieri narrowly misses Inter's third header goal fo teh evening.

76' Inter makes its second substitution -- Almeyda for DiBiago. Sergio has to be upset, as it looks like he will get 10' max of playing time.

    Four minutes of extra time.

I am pretty sure that this loss will put Sporting in the UEFA Cup Tournament, which is actually not a bad thing. When JVP returns in mid-October and if Sporting can ever convince the Spaceman to come back, it could be a real contender.

That is true, but he has not played as well as he can since joining Inter last summer. The funny thing is that he usually plays much better with the seleccao than he does with Inter. Three years ago with Lazio, he was probably the best right wing in Italy and was a major factor in Lazio's winning the scudetto.
