    USA GOAL!

    13th minute
    Heather O'Reilly

    USsoccer description:
Wilsons cross from right side is headed up in the air by Rassmussen. She tries to head it out, but clears poorly and the ball bounces on the left elbow of the 6 yard box for O'Reilly to strike a rocket off Andersen's hands, off the crossbar and in. A real bullet off her left foot. 1st shot of the game for the U.S.

The US is a scoring machine. The matchups ain't even fair.

How many goals has the US scored on their opponents in this tourney and how many have their opponents scored?

Which other teams have been able to rack 'em up?

    As the Matchtracker says..

    Its the Heather O'Reilly show!

    2 goals and 2 assists.

The way shes playing now, I'm freakin scared to play against her and her HS team on Sept 28th and October 17th. Well I wont be but DAMN she sounds like shes playing well. Hopefully the rest of her team wont be as good and improved as her.

Not a problem. I'm bored as hell right now, with some Mountain Dew, chips, and watchin some Friends. I have lots of soccer tomorrow and the rest of the week. Triple sessions are a bitch.

Write up from european womens soccer dot com:

Tournament favourites, the United States, shattered Danish hopes of an upset with an efficient and ultimately decisive performance in Victoria. Heather O'Reilly scored a first half brace, and Kelly Wilson finished off the match with a hat-trick.

The Americans advance to the semi-final of the FIFA U-19 Women's World Championship where they will take on European champion Germany, who beat Japan 2-1 earlier in the day. The US have now recorded three consecutive shutouts, and they have won all four of their matches played with a remarkable +20 goal difference.

Denmark came out prepared to frustrate the US with a rigid defence and a quick counter attacking style. Used to having their own way in midfield, the Americans were almost surprised a few times on the break, but the Danish finishing was lacking early on.

And, as they have so often in this tournament, the US made their opponents pay for every miscue. It was the young phenomenon O'Reilly who was the driving force for the Americans. The 17-year-old took advantage of a poor Danish clearance to rocket a left-footed shot from point blank range (1:0, 13'). It was a confident and predatory strike to open the scoring.

After some back and forth play, Lindsey Tarpley almost doubled the lead with a deft chip from midfield. Danish goalkeeper Sarah Andersen dove back and managed to prevent the ball from finding the net, but she couldn't control it. Again, O'Reilly was there to take advantage, thumping the ball in simply (2:0, 28').

After the second goal, the Danes continued to look mildly dangerous on counter attacks, but again it was O'Reilly who made an impact on the match. First she hit the cross bar with a wicked 25-yard shot (41'), then she set up another goal. It was a magically controlled sequence as she beat a defender on the left wing, ran at the goalkeeper, looked like she was going for a hat-trick, and then slotted the ball simply in front of goal to Wilson (3:0, 44').

But, even before the end of the half, the O'Reilly show continued, with more help from Wilson. It was O'Reilly's perfectly weighted pass into the area that gave Wilson space, but the forward did immensely well on her own, beating a defender and curling the ball around the goalkeeper (4:0, 45+).

In the second half, the Danes had a great chance to pull one back. Ditte Larson had room on the left side of the box, but a sprawling save by goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris kept Denmark scoreless (47').

However, it wasn't long before the Americans put the Danes even further behind. A hard run to a Leslie Osbourne cross, and Tarpley managed to reach the ball in front of the goalkeeper (5:0, 59').

And, after a short period of Danish resistance, the North Americans kept piling on the goals. It was Wilson again, to complete her hat-trick, from a nice Tarpley feed. Wilson held off a defender well and remained calm to claim her seventh goal of the tournament (6:0, 70').

After the sixth goal, the match settled into its inevitable rhythm, with the teams working hard but not creating terribly much. That, of course, suited the Americans fine, and they celebrated deservedly as the final whistle blew.
