CP gets into the box and puts it on a platter 15’ out for Jorginho, who ... creates a nightmare for himself tonight. Remember how Mount took a nice simple pass and cut it smoothly into space for his shot? Jorginho touched it right into the defense.
Chelsea’s defense is just awful. In their defense (ha) it does look like he was a hair offside, but not so obviously that the officials caught it.
Again with how Zouma has been playing and with Rudiger still injured maybe Miazga will be recalled and get a chance sooner than later.
Pulisic lovely settle and cutback for a shot from 7’ - but since Norwich can actually okay defense, it is blocked.
Chelsea scrambled in defense on the break there- CP does a good job of crossing to the left side of the field to break up the play. Good awareness on his part.
And Christian sets that one up on a platter and Barkley decides 3 points are worth more than one and skys it way over the ball. Wrong football, dude.
Some good stuff from CP to create a Tapback to Barkley for an open shot from inside the arc, and he skies it trying to put a ton of power into it. Good half from CP, not many looks for himself, but did really well at seeing the right simple passes to create opportunities. Seemed more on the same page as his new teammates than he has in previous games. Curious whether he’ll go 90 or come off for fresh attacking legs 60-70’ in.
He wasn’t perfect but that was a very good half by CP. His passing percentage may have been perfect actually. Combined really wel with teammates.
Really nice half from Pulisic, I thought. Involved in two goals, created several other chances. Put in the effort defensively also. Particularly impressed because this is the kind of game where in the past he would have expended a lot of energy with little results. Seems to be making nice decisions and is picking his spots. He'll engender a lot of goodwill among teammates if he keeps putting them in good positions...
He helped set up two goals, put another one on a platter and had a shot on target that was blocked, but If I remember correctly from the golden era of YA when we had players all over the premier league, the English fan/media narrative after that first half will be that Mount and Abraham were gods among men and Pulisic was invisible.
They did each have a great goal, and Mount had an awesome half overall. But CP was definitely a big part of it. Now, if the defense can play half as well as the rest of the team...
He had Abraham in front of goal but took a tough angled shot instead. Seems like floodgates might open for Chelsea if they keep up with the pressure.
