49': Restart finds the US cross into the cuban box. Bounces to Beasley at the top of the box whose shot is deflected. Rebound goes to dempsey who shoots into side netting.

50: Cuban player gets a straight red for putting a foot straight in the middle of ben olsen's chest. Olsen was standing up.

Wow. That Cuban player was way out of line with that attempt to pretend to kick that ball. Who sends their foot that high just to kick a ball? Who's he kidding?

Dempsey should have finished that shot, red to Cuba for a kick to the chest. Looks like he left his leg up there after the attempt for the ball. Not sure about a red after seeing the replay, but at this level you should know better then to go cleats first into the upper chest.

Olsen gets kicked in the side - looked like it might have been deliberate - ref shows straight red.

    49th minute 1-1, Cuba down to 10.

did anyone notice the idiot cuban keeper? He was standing there flat footed with his arm in the arm in the air calling for offsides as Dempsey was getting ready to fire. What a grade A moron. Had he been paying even a bit of attention he might have had a chance at the mis-hit from Dempsey. Thank goodness he's a bone head.

You're being way too generous. It's bad enough that we have a loss to Iran on our National Team match record ...

Bruce S: Can't accept the premise Cuba is actually a good team... I can accept such excuse on occassion, as when we played Confederations Cup and ended up playing Nigeria, Brazil and Turkey IIRC..Cuba? Nope...

What in the world Clint?? That was your second!

Very nice move there with Armas, Dempsey missed that one, although the bounce was rough, he still could have finished that one too.

Dempsey misses a shot that looked harder to miss - Brad Davis with a nice centering pass to diving Clint who skies the shot from 1 yard out on wide open net.

red card seems harsh when he played the ball. no problem with a yellow, especially on replay i don't see straight red there
