There are really a lot of questions going into next season about where all of this talent is going to play. IMO, Mount is NOT a winger... but he is Frank's go-to guy... I.e. wherever he has an empty place he is going to put in Mount. Today it was Willian... in the cup game and start of the Liverpool game it was CP. So Frank puts him there. People who hate on Mount better get used to him because I think he is Frank's favorite player. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't be surprised if he views him as his protege. IMO, Mount plays so much better in the midfield because it takes away a lot of the temptation to shoot anytime he has the ball near the 18. He is also tough and can make crucial tackles to start transition play. The question is.... can he play CDM? We have not seen a lot of that from him but if Kai comes in a could see a great front 7 in a 3-4-3.

    CP ----- Werner ----- Ziyech
    Alonso ---- Kai ---- James
    -------------- Mount -------------

As a USMNT homer as well I would like to see Chelsea offer up for Antonee Robinson at LWB/LB in this formation. It doesn't look like he would cost all that much and could develop on the bench before sliding in for Alonso down the stretch <moon-shot, fingers-crossed>.

average to poor match by CP

but the defense and keeper were much much better today ....

good point for CP? If he is not happy about his performance today? (he should not be) .... he has an FA Cup final and another game against Bayern to make up for it .... just want the end of his season to be a positive one.

Understanding reality and questioning it are reconcilable on a message board. The latter doesn’t imply the absence of the former.

Yeah, you don't want a bad taste in his mouth until the next season starts ... in days.

OK, so in this formation, Mount is the keeper? Alright, that is an improvement from Arrizabalaga.

There should be no negatives here. Pulisic wasn't at his best but he directly contributed the the 2nd goal. He's been the best and highest rated player for Chelsea since the break. This team will be on fire in next season's Champions League. Meanwhile, we have an FA Cup final to play next Saturday. All positives.

It was very hard to imagine, at the beginning of the season, that Chelsea and Pulisic would be here right now.
