www.concacaf.com is stating that the Revs are hosting the Burn on July 16th, giving them 2 Gold Cup/MLS tripleheaders.

When is this game being moved from?

I think it's a mistake. The Revs will be playing the Mitts as the middle match (4pm) and it;s always been scheduled that way

No. The Revs are playing the MetroStars on the 12th. This is new schedule change to give you a second tripleheader on Wednesday.

So basically our special game is now the US game against Martinque, and Canada/Cuba game. Also they offically changed the Revs/DC game from Oct 12th to the 11th. This works for me because I was gonna buy teh US game ticket anyway.

2 triple headers in one week? That is exhausting. It's a good thing I took the whole week off.

That's 2 tripleheaders AND 2 doubleheaders in one week....

I'll be coming up for Saturday-Monday. That'll be five games at The Razor, plus a Sunday game at Nickerson in three days.

I guess I should go ahead and book a hotel room.

    See y'all in July.

I sure as hell do not plan on going to the Costa Rica/Cuba game or staying for the El Salvador?martinique game. I also plan on tailgating for the about 75 mins of the Costa Rica Canada game on the 1st tripleheader.

The DCU match, originally scheduled for Sun 10/12 at 4 PM, is now rescheduled for Sat 10/11, still at 4 PM. This match was originally scheduled to be televised live on espn2. Does anyone know whether The Deuce will still telecast the match, or if other arrangements are being made?

The game is probably being moved out of the way of the Womens World Cup championship match, which will likely be held on the 11th. Since it originally was scheduled for 6am on Saturday, there wasn't going to be a conflict.

Are you thinking of the Gold Cup Q-final as the 2nd double header? I thought that was only a single. I know the Revs are in Naperville that day.

Even so, that's still 9 games in 8 days.

Now all I have to do is convince my wife not to divorce me for going to all of them. ;)

I will second those remarks. God what a tough week that will be (well not for me, but for my boss, as I explain why I won't be able to talk, and have to leave early).

Sorry, but this is too funny. A tripleheader on a working weekday. They took a perfectly good weekend Burn game and added it to a weekday series game (during an overpopulated game week to begin with) that they couldn' sell anyway.

These front office people are truly idiots. What's sad is they probably thought it was a stroke of genius. What a ***************ing joke. I keep telling myself to hold onto my season tickets. They keep telling me otherwise. What an absolute joke. After 8 years, I ought to have my head examined to keep shelling money out to these a-holes.

Hard to argue with you Phil. So just to recap, the Revs have the Kansas City game at home May 31, then no game for 2 weeks (the Dallas game would have been the next weekend), then a game on the 14th of June at Colorado. Good for JMM and Rusty's injuries to heal, but not much else.

In July, they are in LA on the 4th (Friday) and the next weekend at home for the first triple-header vs the Mutts (12th). Then there's a Wednesday night game vs Dallas (16th), and the following weekend (19th) they play in Naperville.

The Saturday-Wednesday-Saturday thing isn't too bad if it isn't done too often. Of course, the Open Cup usually starts in July, so there will be another week of a Sat-Wed-Sat schedule. If it happens to be the following week with an OC tie on the 23 (not at all out of the question), that would make 5 games in 2 weeks. Yeah, not all the regulars will play in the OC game, but I just hope this doesn't take it's toll.

Of course, the real reason for the swich is the unappealing nature of the matches. Let's face it, Costa Rica, Martinique, and Cuba are hardly draws, although the Ticos are at least an interesting team worth seeing. Too bad that game is at 4:30 :-( There are significant numbers of Salvadorans in the area, so there'd at least be a decent turnout there. But this underscores the drawbacks of hosting an international tournament. Sure, you get the good games, but you also have to take the less glamourous teams, and their lack of appeal. Even in a place like soccer-mad Italy, there were like 6,000 tickets pre-sold for a 1990 WC match between Cameroon and USSR, until they switched the game time. Gli Azurri were playing on TV at the same time, and this match didn't have anywhere near the appeal. Even still, they didn't sell it out, but at least got a decent crowd.

I don't mind kowtowing to the business interests for the sake of the sport every now and then, but at some point we have to ask whether the soccer is being compromised. I don't think that's the case here, but a few more decisions like this and you might be able to say so.

look, i'd be the last person to defend the office over stuff like this. however...

    1. this can be seen, from a s.t. point of view, as a move of a single mls match from a wknd to a wkday. people have diff opinions on this depending on their schedules. here, the other games could be seen as a "bonus" if you want to take advantage of them....since this wasn't a date that was part of our package.

    2. they never marketed these games that were probably looking at usoc type of attendance figures if they didn't do something.

    3. we're in ca. on that orig wknd, so personally, i get some use out of the tix now.

    4. 2 months is "enough notice", imo, compared to some other decisions they've made in the past with regards to s.t. events.

so, i don't have a big problem with this one.

In a backhanded way, it may also be the Revs manipulating the schedule. As seen by this weekend's Nats game featuring the idle DC United and San Jose Earthquakes.

By moving the Dallas match, suddenly Adin Brown, Steve Ralston, Taylor Twellman, Rusty Pierce, and possibly others all become much more likely callups for the New Zealand game. That is, unless, Arena plans on only using the squad he'll take to France at that point.

3 games in 9 days...way to sacrifice the club for a buck. Not a good move in me eyes.

I think it's actually good for the team. Look at how they've gotten into a groove by playing 3 games in 8 days culminating last week.

Of course it does open up a 2 week break in early June, but the schedule also provides a nearly 2 week break at the end of July into August. This fairly neatly breaks the season into 3rds and a good coach can use those breaks to arrange some matches to get the bench players some action, rest the bruised, emphasize conditioning/tactics/whatever they need.

Of course the scheduling of all these double/triple headers sucks for fans. It's hard enough sitting through double headers in July, but to do multiples and a triple to boot will turn fans into lobsters. And forget bringing kids to these games - I have enough trouble keeping mine occupied for ONE game - and that's when it's not broiling hot.

Season ticket holders have tickets for the 12th (original tripleheader) and 19th (quarter final). We originally did not have tickets for the 14th or the 16th. Was wondering if we would be offered our seats for those matches. Now we are using the "Special Match A" for the doubleheader on the 14th and our Dallas Game tickets for the 16th.

I hope no one bought tickets for the other matches before all this was announced.

    What a week at Gillette.
