7/11: Pulisic (start) - Chelsea at Sheffield United

The midfield trio are being dominated. And Abraham's lack of hold-up play makes it all so much worse. Just a really bad lineup for Lampard today.

of those that have much, much is expected. He's been fine relatively. I still expect more. Some of his play has been predictable and imo he looks a step slow.

 

Pulisic's problem today is that he has zero space to work in.

 

I agree with you but he has still been pretty bad for what has been his recent level of play. Lampard needs to give Pulisic 15-20 more minutes to work with different players. But I have a feeling he gets the early hook instead.

 

Yeah the whole team is atrocious, and pulisic has been equally bad. Crosses to nobody, loose touches, losing the ball. Sure at least he's trying things, but nothing working for him or the team.

 

Yeah he isn’t looking great. This is how he has looked in the past when he has no space. He tries to do a little too much and gets squeezed into multiple defenders. i think he needs to focus more on helping to stretch the defense by making runs in behind

 

Announcer mentioned Mount getting in his way. That is the downside of Mount. He tends to go wherever he wants. In this game he needs to be deeper, but because Chelsea needs goals he thinks he needs to be playing as another forward.

 

Under-prioritizing defense will be Frank’s undoing.

But he is still the one guy reliably at the back post when a ball does come through the area.

 

And credit needs to be given to Sheffield. They've given up less goals this season than Man City. They are disciplined and organized. Not gonna be easy to get 2.

chelsea have no idea how to attack a back 5. you have to push 3 forwards into the 3 center backs so you are 1 on 1 on the wings

 

Lack of rotation and lack of plan against a team that sits deep are two huge strikes against Lampard today. Tired legs and no ideas. Bad combo. Still like Lamps but he has work to do tactically.

 

i mean this is mount getting exposed. he really is english paxton pomykal and not an 80 million pound cam that can put his stamp on a match offensively

 

Pulisic looks terrible so far this half. Whether it's the early foul, the minutes played recently or both, he maybe needs to be taken off.
