but now, since Freddy Adu isn't having an immediate impact on the field, soccer will never be big in the United States Okay, I'm sick of hearing this. Freddy Adu's performance right now isn't going to change the success, or lack their of, of American soccer. The media is labeling him a failure already, but it's only been SIX WEEKS! Admit it or not, MLS and other American teams are known for their tough defense. Our Nat team never relied on flashy strikers. Freddy is going up against some of the best defenses, but people don't seem to focus on that. I don't know what your expectations have been, but I'm damn impressed that a 14 year old can even get playing time in a MLS game. Let's be realistic, he's young. But come World Cup time, I think he's gonna be a force to be reckoned with. The only way soccer is gonna get big in the states is just like it did anywhere else... through exciting action. The sport speaks for itself, we don't need someone flashy like LaBron James jumpstart the league. Hell, the league is still young itself. Viva MLS!
it should be a law that no one can mention Adu except in the context of his on-field performance, and that only, for at least two years.
Saw a commercial last not on FSW with Freddy and he said his name in a way that makes me think people have been mispronouncing it: People have been saying: uh-DOO Freddy said: AY-doo Accent on thie first syllable and the long "a."
"Let's be realistic, he's young. But come World Cup time, I think he's gonna be a force to be reckoned with." will he even make the world cup roster?
So does Michael Jackson. I think that until there is the threat of relegation, players like Adu will not try hard enough on the field until the playoffs. You heard it here first!
