Why do we insist on the double defensive CM's? It hasn't really helped our defensive posture.

    Clark will be horrible, again.

    Ugh. This is depressing.

    Not a Fire bob thread

(just a pre-emptive, and probably fruitless effort :p)

Disappointed, but I'll try to hide it. It looks to me as though BB decided not to think about advancing and decided simply try to win the game, against a team that must also (assume they have to) win. This is a realistic scenario for 2010, if we don't get blown out then in games 1 & 2 as we did here (scorewise) in both games. Hope the team is ready to play!

    LOL. fair enough.

I think this lineup has to be questioned. Wynne probably won't get in. No Torres and/or Adu to start, which would give us an idea of how they can put their imprint on the game. Dempsey starts? So far, we have answered very few questions about our "A" and the lack of answers looks like it will continue.

    hmm.

    well it's a 4-4-2.

    No wingers. two DM's It's a box/bucket again.

Vs. a 3-5-2/5-3-2. With good wingbacks.

We will be hoofing long balls against a team that uses two marking backs.

We will have to hope we can outrun them. Use Davies/LD speed.

This has 4-2 Egypt looking likely.

At least it's not a 4-3-3 with no wingers.

Should have pulled out a 4-4-2 with Dempsey and Altidore up top and with Adu and LD on the wings and Benny and Rico in the center.

    That would have some potential.

    Just don't like a Bucket vs. a 3-5-2/5-3-2

    Not good tactics.

Out only hope is that they are tired...

There's only two changes? really? Guzan and Davies. Wimpy lineup Bradley. Most of these guys are on their last leg!

Agreed. Of course, utilizing the personnel better in the first two games would have helped prevent this.

I am happy to see Davies start. I hope we run a 4-4-2 as that seems to be our best lineup. I guess those are 2 positives. I'm trying.

Wow, BB has learned nothing, and now I'm on the Fire BB thread, full time.

    1) Double d-mids again.

This will lead to no possession, little attacking play, and lots of long balls.

    2) How do we win 3-0 with this lineup?

    No chance. He gives up.

    3) He gives up, and fails to experiment.

No Freddy, Benny, or Torres in the lineup. No creativity in there.

    4) No accountability.

Dempsey starts again after the stunt he pulled. And Clark gets another chance after the boneheaded red.

Too bad Adu can't still play for Ghana, it seems that's his only chance.

I'm officially buying my sombrero's in anticipation of rooting for Mexico in Azteca.

i've noticed i'm becoming more familiar with my thought process before/during/post US games.

letters, email requests to resign.. blogs.. but as usual, i want to punch bob bradley in the face and knock him around a few times. might go to prison, i know. i understand.

Call me an ahole or whatever....but anyone actively rooting against USA in this thread is going to have his/her posts deleted, and be infracted. While we always welcome constructive criticism of play, openly rooting for USA to lose is considered trolling. Regardless of what your ultimate desire might be.

I like the inclusion of Davies. May be he will prove a good foil for Altidore who has been pretty ineffective in his two previous games.

With Zidan out you will have to wonder where the goals will come from. I'd put my money on Ahmed Abdel Ghany starting who is a big striker in the Zaki mold. Not as good as either Zaki, Mido or Zidan I'd wager, but still able to do a job.

I think this will be US's best performance of the tournament, but it might not be enough to beat an Egyptian side desperately seeking a win on home soil. I'll go with 1-0 Egypt.

Hard not to be disappointed with this line-up. Bradley at least does the smart thing and goes with a 4-4-2, but who gets these guys the ball? Twin d-mids will not get it done offensively. I think those who have suggested that Bradley simply wants to win the game, not advance, are right.

Amazing that Dempsey started. What does it take for this guy to hit the bench?

I am frustrated and I think too much so to properly articulate why this lineup by Bob bothers me. I think True Crew sort of expressed how I feel.

Yes it starts with wanting to see the US play differently, which leads me to Torres and Adu and to a lesser extent Benny. It also is frustrating because he seems to run some sort of meritocracy with a different set of rules for each different player. Having said that, I haven't watched much of Egypt so I can't make any analysis based on matchups. I just always am of the mind that its better to possess the ball than to concede possession. And I am not sure where you get that in this lineup. And however you feel about Clint, its clear he needs some rest.

This lineup shows you just how unqualified Bumbling Bob is to be a coach.

Egypt is missing its top three scoring threats and we play TWO defensive midfielders?????

Can someone explain this to me? PLEASE?

It would be nice to see Altidore and/or Davies knock in a goal or two - hey, a guy can hope - and raise their profile enough to make a difference this upcoming club season. People continually tell me these games don't matter (in that sense), but I think a really well-taken goal (not a tap-in) might set things in motion.
