This ---- is always so weird because Americans are like a billion different types of people culturally, ethnically, religiously, regionally etc. It's so odd to just hate Americans, as if we're one kind of appetizer that everyone avoids or whatever. What does that even mean? Do they think New Yorkers are like Texans? That my mother in law in Mississippi is like my mom from San Francisco? Whatever nonsense JD Vance might want to spew, the truth is America has been an idea that literally everyone around the world has stitched their own little cultural element within. There is no "American," in any sense really. We are a billion different things and the only thing we share in common is somewhere, somewhere, at some point, chose to come here from the first American's that walked across the Bering land bridge, or boated across and down (looks like some did that too 25-35,000 years ago) to the most recent immigrants that rolled the dice on leaving everything beyond to start from scratch here. The commonality is the risk taking that some ancestor or recent relative took, but beyond that, we aren't some monoculture like so much of the rest of the world, and Australians should understand that, knowing their ancestors were either shoved there, chose to come there, or travelled their like the aborigines thousands of years ago. So annoying to hear things like that. If the Scots, the Welsh, and the English are distinct, how could a country orders of magnitude larger that draws from the entire world for its population base and culture not be 10,000x even more distinctly different.... Ugh.
All the Australian stuff I have seen in reference to America is toxic as hell. I am sure individuals will be nice to Individuals but they are nasty bunch. Make no mistake. I am not rooting for them in the slightest and hope we pound them into dust.
From an article in an Australian publication “Americans think that this is the only place on earth where Americans are not hated,” one user quipped. “As an Australian, I can confirm this is wrong. Everyone I know hates Americans. Australian politicians, on the other hand, are stooges of America.” Migration map exposes what Australians really think of the US | news.com.au — Australia’s leading news site for latest headlines Australians can hate us or not. Either is ok with me. I'm not going to return hate for hate. In fact, I listen a lot to Australian radio. I call into an Australian radio quiz show fairly regularly. My ONLY point was, don't be surprised when Australia plays the game of their lives against us. As I type this, I got to thinking, pretty much the biggest military event memorialized in Australia is Gallipoli. Wonder how they're going to feel playing Turkiye? My guess is the feeling will be "bygones," but man, every year on ANZAC day, it's pretty much all about Gallipoli.
I assume the people on ABC News in Australia are the same types of people who are on our version of ABC News and its ilk here...and they hate America too. They have much more in common with each other than they do with normal Americans or Australians.
Well, based on the last few pages, I'm very confused, because for some reason, I thought this was the UNMNT News and Analysis forum, specifically the USMNT vs Paraguay. I dunno, maybe I'm missing something.
Right, I'm asking if we know if that's the actual kickoff time (or at least within a few minutes of it) or just the TV time. Mexico game started around 305pm, so hopefully the former.
Yes, it will be similar to Mexico. The match times are listed as such (and need to be adhered to in order to stay in the 2 hour time slot FOX has allotted.
You know how what you see on TV in America doesn’t represent all of America? Well, that applies in other places.
I was looking for this answer yesterday. FIFA lists the game kicking off at 9pm eastern. Seems that they will kick off within a few minutes of that, like today. I was shocked to see that Fox will start their pre-game show at 6pm!! The match certainly won't start late on account of allowing American tv to start their pre-game when the match is scheduled to start.
Which is too bad, because South Africa was f*cking TERRIBLE. Not even a single dude that stood out even for his athleticism. Slow, plodding, uncreative, technically poor. Really, really bad across the board (except maybe their keeper--he looked pretty sharp).
I met Aussies at the 2006 World Cup in Germany and they were wonderful. But the "ugly American" stereotype has been around forever, and with good reason. And now, with Trump, it is magnified 1000%. He exemplifies all of that. Around the world we are more unpopular than at any point in my lifetime, and I was born in 1969.
