Yeah, I remember OTH calling out for Wondo to be starting every game. OTH knew. Oh, wait ....

Pretty easy to sit back, make no positive contributions, and use hindsight to criticize those who make decisions when things don't go right. Easy and pathetic.

Why focus solely on the deals that don't work out? Why not discuss all moves in context? Why not discuss developing Rico Clark, Geoff Cameron, and other successes as well as acknowledge that it was a mistake to not make DeRo a DP and keep him and that trading Wondo for Weaver didn't work out.

Surely you are better than these pathetic posts ....

Not really sure how I or anyone other than the coaching staff could nake that assesment we never saw him properly play with the first team.

You guys go on about well DK sees them in training every day he knows thats my point.

And we have 1 sucess story in 10 years of coaching this team............ not sure thats something we should be bragging about regarding the development of players. Furthermore players develop when they are challenged i.e move up from college to pros i am betting Cameron makes it wherever he plays. Look at Bruin same thing. I am not sure you can totally credit the coaching staff for that 100%

While in line at MLS Cup to take a photo with Chris Wondolowski, there was some Wondo-Trivia being broadcast over the loud speaker for prizes. One of the conestests, mabeuf , correctly answered a question and won a prize, after which, with Wondo standing behind us, the following exchange took place:

Game Show Host Guy at MLS Cup: THAT IS CORRECT!!! Did you know that Chris Wondolowski used to play for your Houston Dynamo??
Mabeuf: Yeah, best reserve player we EVER had!

At least we know OTH exists in real life, right? Much better than other posters.

OTH it's pretty simple.....do you take our history since Houston arrived or just about any other team in the league? When you factor in that LA and NY are provided unlimited assets while Houston is not, I think it becomes obvious.

Does Kinnear make mistakes here and there that he wish he could undo? Of course. Is the Landin signing/Wondo move one of them? YES. Over the course of his career does the great outweigh the mistakes? By a huge margin.

I think that is a very good assessment, although while people throw out the LA/NY has unlimited resources argument, one of the reasons LA made that work was because Arena has developed young guys and found some real good young talent with his eye recently.

I did get a smirk on my face when I saw a tweet from Steven Goff (@Soccer Insider) saying that if Beckham was not going to play in the ASG due to his Olympic "commitments" the replacement player for him on the active roster was going to be . . . . Kei Kamara

I just can't stress too much how easy it is to sit back and pick apart other peoples decisions in hindsight.

Every great individual in our society throughout history who actually accomplishes things will emphasize how important it is to look forward, move forward, and not dwell on the past. They will emphasize how important it is learn from mistakes then let them go. They all share the characteristic that they don't dwell on the negative or too much on the past. They do the best they can, as imperfect as it always is, and then move on.

No ill will towards Wondo or the Dynamo FO.

We gave Wondo every possible chance to succeed and it just didn't happen.

Some folks just need a change of scenery.

Wondo is a good striker....obviously Dom made a mistake and??? What coach doesn't?? We're fine with our current team. San Jose is finally relevant again...sorta....we're still the DYNAMO and you know why we are the feared DYNAMO?? Because Dominic Kinnear makes us strong.

We also got rid of Nate Jaqua, Joe N., Ryan Cochrane (yes we did get him back for a while), Kelly Gray, Mike Chabala, Sammy Appiah (who by the way tore it up with Pittsburgh last season for a while), Cisco Navas, Tony Caig, Julius James, and the list goes on. How come no one points out how good we did by jettisoning those guys?

James played really, really well over the last year or so in Columbus. He's been injured this year, but for the most part he may be starting to put it together.

I know-I just never hear anyone say, wow, we made a bad deal getting James and dumping DeRo. Or people saying, wow-We made out losing Nate Jaqua.

Let me apologize for myself and everybody else, we never answered your question. We got Cam Weaver.

We're feared because the BBVA is probably the most difficult stadium to play in.... :p.

You have to make an adjustment for the situation. DeRo had to get dumped for salary cap/salary demand issues and wanted to go to Toronto. Did we shop him around? Don't know, but I don't kill Dom for that deal because coming off of 2008 we had salary cap issues since we were running out of "you suck" allocation money and money received for San Jose guys coming back to MLS (I think Ramiro Corrales was our last SJ allocation extortion received).

Wondo I think was a straight-up swap for Weaver. There was no other outside situations or salary cap issues to work around. I think Weaver had the higher salary but was signed thru 2012 at a what was a reasonable salary then so that's the way it was sold - we got another team's "starter" at a decent rate.

I did not complain about it. Most others didn't as well. One thing that I wish I pointed out then (and maybe I did) that alarmed me was that San Jose had only signed Weaver that offseason from Norway and trading him in May seemed like they knew something and were giving up on him early - although IIRC he scored against us early in 2009. It just seemed suspect that they dumped the guy that quickly.

I think the question here is: have we changed our practice evaluation and other metric to make sure we don't trade away another Wondo?

Some day I will make a list of all Dynamo transactions from 2006 thru today and we can rate them on a 1-10 scale.
