Sticky for visiting fans? This was in the SL Trib this morning. Yeah, I know I should read the Des News because they sent a reporter to training camp. But maybe we should make this a Sticky for visiting fans. (A couple things would change for visiting fans during soccer season, like you can't ski in Park City after April, but you can mountain bike.) The print version had a handy map, too. Or one of the fan clubs could link to this or maybe the Trib would not mind if they copied it.
I'd love to see this place: "2. The Red Door, a smoke-free private club at 78 West 200 South, is a low-key martini and cigar bar in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City. " Smoke-free cigar bar, interesting.
Hmmm . . . Utah has no statewide smoking ban. My state, Washington, has the strictest in the USA. The list of states: California (1998) Colorado (2006) Connecticut (2004 - but only if more than 5 employees in an establishment) Delaware (2002) DC (comes on line in 2007) Maine (2004) Massachusetts (okay in cigar bars) New York (2003 - okay in cigar bars) Oklahoma (2006 - I am unclear on this one) Rhode Island (2005 - except in tribal casinos) Vermont (2005) Washington (2005) Poke fun at Utah where merited - this isn't one of those "Utard" situations! The odd beer, now, there's another story!
Come on Ismitje. I've heard of smoke free humidors/shops/whatever. But a smoke free Cigar bar? WTF is that all about? It merits some poking fun at.
Sure - but in those other places I listed (except MA and NY) it is a statewide ban that results in smoke free cigar bars. In other places, like Minneapolis and Madison, it is city and county legislation that makes cigar bars smoke free. Same as in SLC - it isn't a state ban. So poke your fun - just at the right legislative entity!
And in these other states they still call them Cigar Clubs. Smoke free Cigar Clubs. They don't call them a club or a private club or whatever, they classify themselves as smoke free cigar clubs. If so, that is absolutly absurd.
* bites tongue about second hand smoke * Anyway, Blittz Boy, thanks for the link. I'm not sure we have many folks looking for info when traveling into town for a sticky. But it's good to know where we can direct people if they do.
