5 million terrorists and potential problems are out there. Sounds like a lot, so we better get killin'....

U.S. security agents have a master list of five million people worldwide thought to be potential terrorists or criminals, officials say. "The U.S. lookout index contains some five million names of known terrorists and other persons representing a potential problem," Brian Davis, a senior Canadian immigration official in Paris, said in a confidential document obtained by the Sun.

Names on the list are compared against those applying for visas or on flights travelling to the U.S.

Anyone whose name is on the list is questioned or banned from entering the U.S. -- as passengers were on two British Airways flights to Los Angeles two weeks ago.

Or, 50 terrorists and 4.9 million people with unpaid parking tickets. Out of control, anyone?

Have they actually said what causes you to be on this list?? Is this simply a terror issue, or a visa one, as well?? It seems to me to be an easy way to keep people with prior drug convictions out or anyone known to simply protest against the US or our allies...

    Five million terrorists? FIVE million?

    Yeah, right.

McCarthy had CommunISM. Bush, Ascroft, Ridge et al have TerrorISM. It's the ISM for the 21st century.

I wonder when they're going to start having witch hunts for terrorists on Capitol Hill.

Simply being outspokenly anti-war is enough to get you on a no-fly list.

Wow, I'd like to say that alternet article suprised me but then I'd be lying. Its still a trip but wow.

I brought up this point with some friends: Someone would likely have to do something pretty noticable to get on one of these no-fly lists. I'd be interested in knowing what would cause a person to appear on a list but not cause them to be incarcerated or deported. Like, if these people are so dangerous, why are they even able to travel in the first place? Then again, as the criteria for these lists is secrets all one can do is speculate I suppose.

It's important for DHS to identify terrorists, especially guys like this

Homeland Security creates terror of its own for North Branford family

Hey, they know what they're doing. If a few innocent people are prevented from flying are deported from the country, it's worth it as long as one terrorist is caught.

    Right? Right???? Right????????

I read about the Communist witch hunts when I was in high school. At the time I thought, "Wow, how for we've come. That could never happen again." I guess I was wrong. When I think what Bush has done to our country, it makes me sick.

Wow. Does that story really say "this Holiday season" and was dated 1 of '04? 'Cause I know I've read this before. Now that I'm seeing it again, with a different date on it, I'm beginning to put it into the "urban legend" slot. This "happened" during the sniper attacks in DC. Whatever. Hey, I fly alot. If the "no-fly list" winds up applying to all Greens, I'll let you know.

Airlines wouldn't like it a bit. Think about how much potential profits are lost.

Activities of anti-terrorism itself doesn't help the economy. All the money spent on it are non-productive.

You lose a lot when you become the target of terrorists.
