    FIRE vs. D.C. 3/5/03

FIRE plays D.C. at 3:00 3/5/03. Do you think Dave's going to start playing the starters more then just a half.(Beasley,Bocanegra,Curtin,Brown,Zach etc.) This game would be a good game to start playing the regulars more. The season starts in one month. Speaking of regulars were the f--k is Faria, were going to need this guy in the first three games of the season, because of Razov's suspension.

    Prediction on Starting lineup:

    GK Thornton
    D Bocanegra
    D Curtin
    D Brown
    D/M Whitfield
    M Armas
    M Beasley
    M Gray
    M Marsch
F Razov (First 3 games Jaque)
    F Faria

Subs:Williams (I think if we sign him he'll start and Whitfield will come in as a sub)
Dipsy (When he gets back fom his injury)
    Mapp
    Jaque
    Perez
    Capano
    Nugent
    Ralph
    Mack
    Ring

Has Faria sorted out his "visa issues" and reported yet, or did those "bureaucratic difficulties" require him to stay through Carnival?

    Logan Pause

Watch out for this guy - he played 90 minutes again - he's good and I'm betting he makes the squad.

The defense seems to be ok and it is preseason but although we don't have razov or faria, doesn't it seem like we may have trouble scoring goals this year?

Geez, what is with DC and Fire playing to 0-0 games?

    Re: Logan Pause

Of course he is going to make the roster. He is Project 40. He doesn't count against the cap or senior roster.

Btw, has Armas played in any minutes in pre-season? Will he be ready to start when the season rolls around or will we have to work him along?

    Another Prediction

Sorry, Alf - you are quite right - perhaps I can predict significant playing time?

Another prediction - two years from now no-one will remember Nate Jacqua and Damani Ralph will be a regular starter for some MLS club - and I hope it is us!

Man, that Ray Hudson is one tricky bastard. He started Earnie Stewart *and* subbed him for Ryan Nelsen in the 85th minute!

Yea, the apparent lack of goal scoring has me a bit worried as well. I am hoping it is due to the fack that so many lineups have been played that a rythmn between teamates has been hard to come by.

I went to the game today and enjoyed watching the fire more than United. Fire defensive and mid-field lines seem pretty pretty ok but the biggest problem the Fire going to face in the season is: The offensive Line. There was nothing going on with offensive line...beasley was sending all those nice crosses and nobody was there to pick them up :-( . Anyways, the team is full of young players but like i said....the fire going to face a big problem with their offensive line. There was a nice atmosphere at FAU field and people enjoyed the game. Also bruce Arena was there and the Galaxy and Dallas burn staff were there watching. BTW... Andy williams is worth a contract, he showed some great effort and was kinda unstoppable. I guess his presense around those young players can help them since all the oldies left the team.

But take into consideration Razov and Faria didn't play. I think most people somewhat agree they'll be in the lineup during the season.

Why isn't there any information about this match on mlsnet? It seems like we have kind of been on the back burner as far as news and the league goes for the last few days. Not to say that nothing has happened with the team, but that there hasn't been any reporting on it. Nothing in that training camp notes or any recent articles.

I think that they covered the matches that they covered in the matchtracker. The Fire vs. Quakes game is scheduled to be on their matchtracker on the 8th so I'm sure they'll be concentrating on that game (along with the other scheduled.)

Because the fire vs DC game was only a scrimmage game. They don't make a big deal of scrimmage games.

Saw the pics of this match at the Fire's web site, and if those jerseys are the new home shirts, I thought they looked sa-weeeet.

Those are just training kits, no numbers on tha back. The real ones whill have the stripe across the chest like our old ones.
I'd love to get one of those training kits though!
