OH MY PAPA! Look at all the news. I love it. Keep it coming for those too lazy to look for it themselves. (Pointing finger at myself.)
fear not... gpk or myself have this sucker out here every day of the year... and a couple of others will help us out from time to time as well -jim
Could someone clarify? Are both these statements true: Tim Howard's mother is Hungarian and his wife is of Hungarian descent?
From the Telegraph article: "A sluggish start ended with the World Cup quarter-finalist's first goal, when Jones was harshly adjudged to have pushed Birmingham's Jovan Kirovski." I guess it was a good thing we had a Mexican crew working the game to make sure the US received all the close calls.
From NY Daily News "Terms of the deal, reported by the Daily Mail and confirmed by American sources, would have MLS receiving in the neighborhood of a $2.5 million transfer fee from the English Premiership champions. Howard would earn about $1.2 million a year, sources confirmed. " 1.2 million a year ... that's alot of money for a keeper or is that just an average salary for a keeper over Europe? I wonder how much Barthez makes and what our other two Yanks EPL keepr make.

Counce is an idiot. He now has a young player retiring bacause of the coach, not to mention Grimandi leaving, and he doesn't see the problem as Hankinson. I hate to say it, but maybe Herdsman is making the smart choice...
We are spoon-fed --given a daily soccer fix-- by Jim, GPK and other conscientious moderators. But, what are we going to do when they won't have the time to do this daily summary? Long live BIGSOCCER, now the best web board in the world...
from Connecticut Journal Inquirer "Adu would truly be a miracle worker if he could improve the ratings for soccer. Late-night infomercials get better ratings than Major League Soccer. But there is already hope that Adu can change that." eat me...the way journalists (so-called) have a penchant for exageration is ridiculous. next they'll be saying that Manchester United is the most successful sports team in history...wait....
umm... he seriously isn't far off... have you seen the ratings we get? you might want to take a dose of reality at some point... and banning baseball isn't called reality... i'm going to be a cardinals fan til the day i die
I thought this was an unusual article. I don't remember anyone arguing that point of view in the press in the past.
Re: Re: 5/28/03: Royale with Cheese agreed i wrote in to tell them i appreciated the article... news@mojonews.com i'm not exactly in their area... but whatever
I'd still call it hyperbole. ESPN has a lot of programming that doesn't do any better than MLS, and no one raises a stink about it the way they do about soccer. They even paid for some of it. And you guys were lucky in the '82 NLCS.
