is sunday's match when they are going to start the bar-b-que concessions behind one of the goals during the game?

having one of the teams' goalies miss a shot b/c their eyes are burning from smoke will be quite a scene!

Well I'll be there, after 2 days of rain soaked Bridgewater Challenge Cup where each start was greeted with drizzle turning into downpour. As soon as the final is over it's into the car and up to Nickerson, a journey in which my wife will call my sanity into question. Thanks to Direct TV I got to see all the WUSA matches yesterday(A RARE CIRCUMSTANCE THIS YEAR).We should have hung onto Sullivan!!

Hopefully the damp chill will cause more problems for the Bleat than us.An opportunity to go from 4th to 2nd tonight Lets hope they take advantage.

Well, that was pretty terrible.Beat to almost every 50-50.Complete chinese fire drill in the central defense. What was with Monica and Kate? Hooper took that crew to school. The french girl seemed to be the only one working hard out there and she got no support. All the Bleat or any other team for that matter have to do is double the M & M girls and we're cooked.Very disappointing performance when we needed much better.

I wonder...were not Lilly and Popper working hard, too. (commenting, discussion- not critical tone).

I was seriously wow-ed by Lil a number of times- that run in the 1st half to save and cross the ball at the goal line. Her workrate was 1st class.

Popper while seeming to give up the ball a bit, always was tenacious and provided a steady leg/foot on the backline.

Agree totally, Mugneret-Beghe had one incredible game...

Would have liked that one run by Raghnild at the 84thish minute to have prospected something better than going over the goal line.

She is a presence in the box for headers but she is frighteningly slow.she just hasn't fit in and is a little fragile for my tastes.Has not proved to be worth the foreign slot.I would have much preferred to see Pia keep Allie Kemp Sullivan and improve her skills than let her go and take a chance that Rags would come around.Other than a late game replacement when Dag or Maren run out of gas what are we going to do with her.Is that realy worth the slot.

Hooper is an ironwoman. Four games in eight days and she was still out there crushing the ball (and people) for 90+ minutes.

Boston must put away their shots. Mellgren just needs to let go and nail it rather than trying to finesse the ball into the net. You know damn well that she would score on three-quarters of those chances when playing for Norway against the US. :(

The game would have been very different if Steph's 20th minute shot had gone in instead of wide left. Mellgren worked very hard on the right side and goal line to set that one up.

The third Atlanta goal in the 68th minute was the result of some incredible play by Parlow down her left side and into the corner. When she got the ball to Hooper, the defense collapsed on Charmaine leaving Sawa open to glide in from midfield.

But, Lilly had a golden chance to tie it up just moments before at the other end, firing right at Scurry from inside the PA.

Dominguez deserved a second caution for hammering Lilly in the 93rd minute. That was her 9th foul of the match. She got cautioned for whacking Popper in the first half, her second or third foul against Popper in the span of 10 minutes.

When will refs start carding players for attacking Lilly? It states quite clearly in the USSF Advice to Referees to consider a pattern of fouls by different players against one player as Persistent Infringement", just as if one player were repeatedly committing fouls.

Popper was very active this match, but I wonder if O'Grady could have provided a late game spark. And Hucles has had better games. I was a bit surprised at the caution she got for a tackle that took down Sawa. (Careful what you say about the ref ...)

McCann was warming up early. The way Pia was yelling at Gonzalez before the half, I really expected to see Chrisy start the second half.

I'll admit to being disappointed in Rags' work rate. (You should watch her when she has to play as a defender in practice. I would not use the word "dedicated" :) ) But she is a presence. Nonen came close to being tossed when she went after Rags. Norway used her up top in a 4-5-1.
