Mr. Jones (from the LA Times) appears to be celebrating Memorial Day a bit early it seems.....
On the other hand, LA is truly struggling, which is hard to explain for a team playing together for a number of years w/o major changes and under the same coach...Hopefully, they manage to fix things before they have to go to the international tournament in Korea...If they don't it'll be truly embarrasing to say "Hey, that's the LA Galaxy : the 2002 MLS CHampions"

that HDC article was interesting, i didn't realise there was so much contraversy surrounding it before it was built. there are some good numbers in the article though too in regards to revenue streams.

The good thing is that many of the additional revenue streams don't require using the soccer stadium and tearing up the turf, such as the tennis and track stadiums. Also, the practice facilities should bring in some revenue. I believe the Chargers will be holding preseason training there.

Would this be a good idea? (section on potential U-17 site)
"This center could potentially include hotel and conference rooms, which would invite event-goers to enjoy a more complete entertainment experience. Also, AEG desires to build dormitory housing for athletes in training. Such housing could lure the U.S. Soccer men's under-17 team to move its year-round residency. "

WHAT IS WRONG WITH GRAME JONES?
what the heck is wrong with that guy? he's usually pretty negative about MLS but what the heck buisness does he have ripping them with about as much intelligence and maturity that you find on these boards??

Its been discussed in other threads. The advantage that Bradenton has is that it is part of the IMG Academy, that has the school and everything for tennis prodigies, and I believe other sports. Of course they could try to do the same sort of thing in Carson, but that could be a huge project.

jones is what one would call "out of the loop"

i don't think carson would ever be considered for the u-17 residency program

however, a u-20 residency program is an entirely different story... just ask mr. trecker (and you can if you want... i have his email listed in the us soccer media directory in my signuture)
