Lets show Timmy our support and give him a pat on the back.

When Tim's name is called, I say we give him a standing ovation, make it loud, make it proud.

    You in?

We stand the entire match in 101. What else should we do?

It seems like only the other day that we were ticked off about Mike Amman being traded. Maybe we could bring him out of retirement when Timmy leaves.

Not a bad idea. Ammann was a great 'keeper for us. But we could always give Countess the starting spot, oh wait..never mind.

That was a really bad trade. We all knew Timmy was sooner or later going to be sold to Europe. He already had potiential to be a star 1999. Countess would have been a perfect back-up for Timmy, and an excellent replacement.

IIRC, Winston Griffiths, who was cut in 2-3 months.

Countess and a #2 to Dallas for Griffiths and #1 (later traded to DC in the Pope trade). Griffiths was then traded to LA for a #3 (Glowienka).

What we should do is have the PA announcer give the first name and the entire crowd shout the last name (for the home team). If you listen to a crowd in Germany do this, it sounds good. They do it for goals, too.

That's very right, and not only that no matter what anyone says we always had a problem in depth if Howard was called to the National team, Olympics or got hurt.

We should have kept Countess, that was a big mistake in judgement.

This now must rank as one of the worst Metro trades ever (possibly disregarding the Lothar liquidation). Nick has no excuse for having traded Countess, a P-40 protected player whom would have done quite well backing up Timmy for a few years, for a 3rd round draft pick.

The difference is that in Germany.. there is a "crowd". We have more of a "gathering"

While it would be nice to have DJ back, there's a lot of revisionist history going on here. Countess was not happy about being allocated to Metro, and he requested a trade to a team where he could play. Even if we had kept him for these past two years, he would have bitched about being here behind Howard incessantly.

We can debate what we got in return, but I think it was unrealistic for Nick & OZ to hold on to DJ when he didn't want to be here and we already had one of the league's top three GKs. If I were in that situation, I would have traded DJ as well.

Considering Mike Ammann's retirement was mostly due to nerve damage in his arms, I don't think that would be a possibility.

We're already standing for the intros anyway, maybe jump over the rails and storm the fieldturf, carry Howard around it a few times then let the game begin.

DJ's trade was obviously a league trade. But, he also has what has been termed, 'a checkered past'. I'm not sad that he's not on the team.

We cleaned goalkeeping house to cultivate Timmy's talent. I truly hope he doesn't leave right when we most need him, when things are looking so good.

Meola was great between the pipes for us. Metrofans have been blessed with the four best keepers in MLS' brief history (though Zach only blossomed under Bradley's eye).

I figured it out. I'm going to wear a surgical mask with "Winning is Contagious" written on it in red and black letters.
