I can't wait to get my afro cut after this game. Ugh. We'll see how good of a job I do on this tonight. I'm a bit on the tired side...the climbing from last night really wore me out. For Power fans checking in...I am not too familiar with your team so there is gonna be an obvious Freedom bias in this PBP. Let's see what the Freedom do tonight. Will they rebound from last week? Damn I hope. Like I said before in the PRE-GAME thread I don't know if the Power are a "hot" team, but they have been playing good as of late.
I wonder if I should start on these Smirnoff Black Ice doohickys that I bought earlier this afternoon? I still do have to drive to the mall to get my afro cut. Ugh...Jacqui and Abigail up top...Mia lost in the midfield again. Welsh and Millie up top for the Power. Seems like the usual lineups for both teams when they are at full strength. Whalen is tonight's sideline reporter. Good crowd on hand. Freedom wearing their white uniforms and going right to left. And the Freedom turn it over early but regain possession on a throw in near their end. Freedom on the defense so far. Millie with a cross in from the near side and goes across the top of the six but no one on the receiving end. Rapp from far side beyond the 18 and crosses to Justi Baumgardt who is about 8 yards out but goes wide left.
3rd minute...Freedom throw in deep but cleared out by the Power. Baumgardt with a long pass to Millie who splits two defenders and she is 1 v 1 with Siri but the ball is too far ahead of her...leads to NY's first corner. Siri punches that out for another Power corner. ARGH!!!! I just lost power!!!! OK it's back on again... Short corner and that is when I lost the power. Short corner goes to Millie and she crosses it in...yada yada yada. Power so far dominating this game.
6th minute...Mia threads a pass to Abigail but a Power player sends it over the far sideline for a Freedom throw in.. NY on the counter now...Peters....pass to Rapp...she is near the top corner of the six on the far post...left footed shot....Siri blocks it. WHEW!!! Freedom playing on the back of their heels so far.
GOAL Mia!!!!!! And I think she said "s***!". Mrs. Garciappara was able to one time a ball from the top of the 18 and went far post!
10th minute and the Freedom are up 1-0. Abigail had a pretty nasty collision with Raveia I think...she skyed and landed hard on her shoulder/upper body. Power with another corner...Justi to take a short one near side...Janss tries to pass it off to Millie but Steffi Jones knocks it away. Thank God the Freedom have Siri in there now. That Erin Regan chick woulda already made it a multigoal lead for the Power. Is it me or do the Freedom like to pass around the midfield and the backline alot? Not that there is anything wrong with that... 13th minute...Freedom throw in...ugh...nada.
15th minute. Bad clearance by Smolak goes right to L-Squared who was camped out at the top of the 18...I don't think she was expecting it. Mia on the near side of the 18 sends a looping shot...nada.
Freedom with their first corner of the match...near side...Mrs. Fugly Nose to take it....low corner...Pearce clears it...ball goes to some Freedom player...over the endline...Power goal kick. Am I the only one here!?!? Millie with a pass to Welsh top of the 18...nada.. Long pass to Abigail and it's 1 v 3...nada... Welsh in the 18 sends a pass to the top of the arc....Baumgardt takes a shot...nada.... 20th minute and the Power backline resets...long pass from the midfield on the near sideline goes to no one and results in a Freedom goal kick. Power on the attack...maybe not...dispossessed by the Freedom... Millie eludes a Freedom defender....chips a ball right to Siri..easy save...maybe that was meant as a pass???
23rd minute...I think it was Tietjen with a long pass to Anita Rapp...either she got her head on it or she missed it...Freedom goal kick. Is Mia cold or something? 24th minute: Power with a throw in deep in Freedom territory..it goes for naught...Steffi Jones was able to take that away and sends the ball upfield...Smolak outside the 18 to clear it out. Abigail is getting knocked down hard. Get the fook up you fool!!! Joey Peters takes a left footed shot from the top of the 18...wide right.
Oooo...this Smirnoff Ice Triple Black is GOOD!!! Oh milbrett... The game is now in the 27th minute...Abigail takes a shot but Raveia deflects it over the end line...Mia to take the Freedom's second corner on the far side...sends to top of six...Peters clears it...Freedom still maintain possession...Jacqui...she does something... Skylar with a cross intended for Abigail but Smolak able to snag that one.
30th minute...Rapp on the far side of the 18... Abigail dribbling into the 18...she lays off a pass to Mia...Mia falls in the 18...SHE DOVE...NO CALL...BLOWN CALL!!! WAH WAH WAH WAH WAH WAH...the ref cost us the game! WAH WAH WAH!!! Gabby is being interviewed now...he's suprised the team isn't down by more goals now cuz of the Power's chances... 32nd minute...Freedom freekick from about 30 yards out...goes right to Smolak. 33rd minute...I think it was either Rapp or Baumgardt with a left footed shot from just outside the 18 but easy save for Siri.
34th minute...Janss with either a looping pass or shot...Millie too short though ...easy save for Siri. Whew. Millie in the 18...left footed shot...blocked! Power corner..near side...Baumgardt to take it...low...near post...Moore heads it out..Power throw in...Power shot from long range goes way over...Freedom goalkick. Damn I'm hungry. 36th minute...Freedom awarded a freekick from about 40 yards out...Mia takes it...sends to the top of a six to a diving Abigail but nada. Ugh. I can't wait for halftime so I can eat dinner.
38th minute...Mia wins a corner on the far side...Mia to take it....she's got a big booty ...far corner...cleared by the Power. Damn. I think that was the Freedom's fifth corner of the night. L-Squared in the 18 near the endline crosses it but goes to no one. Ugh.
40th minute...Jacqui earns the penalty kick!!! She was pulled down by Boxx...Mia to take it.....GOAL!!!! Mia places it near post!!! Freedom up 2-0.
That was a nice individual effort by Jacqui before she was taken down by Boxx...was able to juke her way into the 18 when the foul occurred. Freedom with another corner...nearside..Mia to take it....Smolak able to punch it out...ball ends up going to a Freedom player who knocks it back to Abigail but she is offside by a good yard or so...err maybe.... Freedom clearly have the momentum now... Freedom earn ANOTHER corner...farside...good play by Abigail and Jacqui to get that corner...Abigail on the attack lays off a gorgeous pass to Jacqui..and she earns the corner. Mia to take the corner... GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stealthwhacker!!!! She makes it 3-0!!!!!! Corner went to Abigail about 8 yards out...she heads it down with not much power and Stealthwhacker able to head it in. Raveia booked in the 45th minute. Mia to take the freekick.....Smolak slaps at it...Stealthwhacker cracks a shot...nada.
HA!!! Two minutes of stoppage time added. It's halftime. The Power go into the locker room down by three goals.
ARGH!!!! There is a Krista Davey piece during halftime. Oh come on...she wants to say that New Yawkers are RUDE!!!! SAY IT!!! Wow...she can really do pushups..guy pushups even!
Second half underway...Power going right to left.... No subs yet. Siri with a nice save...ends up being a Power corner...corner on nearside...nada... Earlier...Janss cracks a left footed shot from the top of the 18 but Siri able to tip it over with her right hand for the Power corner.
Wow...Peters I think surrounded by about four or five Freedom players and is able to dribble into the Freedom's defensive third before laying off a pass to Millie who was on the near side of the 18 but nada... We are now in the 49th minute...
I just wolfed down a burger that I grilled earlier today for lunch. I'm still hungry . ARGH!!!! One of the Twins was able to go to near the six on the near side and passes to Mia but nada! Ugh. I keep mistaking L-Squared for the Little twins. We are now in the 52nd minute. Power on the attack...Boxx wins the ball at midfield...Boxx runs into the Freedom's defensive third....cross goes into the 18....nada...WHEW!! I would lub me some Sara Whalen! Rapp pushes to the endline and lays off a pass but cleared out. Millie with a long range shot but goes way, way, way off it's target.
