Amazing that Jimmy Conrad doesn't do his "weight trainer/diet guru" schtick in LA, particularly at the Home Depot Center...

I love hearing pro athletes bitch about traveling and travel accomidations. I imagine that MLSers might have a bit more right to gripe than in other sports but it's still a little grating. I know an athletes life can't be compared to an average joe's but Keith Foulke is getting crucified right now in Boston for this stuff cause as a fan ya really don't want to hear it.

I was reading the Chico article waiting for the jokes until I realized that I was reading The Orion, not The Onion. Nice article, though.

This is strange and hilarious at once:

First off, why are they playing the Rhode Island StingRay. There must be a big Portguese community nearby?

And a pitch invasion? In America? To touch Pinto? Hilarious.

At the factory of a company one of my friends works at in RI, they had to print safety instructions in Portuguese up until about 5 years ago. I have to imagine that it was mostly for older workers who never learned to read English, but most've spoken it. But still, Providence is one of those American cities where there is still a very strong ethnic identity.

That's a pretty good article, but it gives a rather incomplete picture of the team. Most notably it doesn't mention that the Rooks left the USL structure entirely a couple years ago and joined the the MPSL.

--MLSnet should replace those terrible player diaries with Conrad's Corner.

    Rooks

For more than anyone probably wants to read about the Rooks, I went a little overboard last year in writing about the Rooks and "Soccer Done Right" on this thread https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=67037

I blame you, though, Knave, for your season long update of last year's Nevada squad. And by blame I mean credit - I enjoy Rooks soccer and had fun sharing with, well, almost no one here about the team and the commmunity.
