Breakers take an early 1-0 lead with an 8th minute goal from Mellgren off a Meinert pass. :)

Boston Breakers -- Karina LeBlanc, Heather Aldama, Monica Gonzalez, Kate Sobrero, Jena Kluegel, Kristine Lilly, Angela Hucles, Sarah Popper, Stephanie Mugneret-Beghe, Maren Meinert, Dagny Mellgren.

San Diego Spirit -- Jaime Pagliarulo, Kerry Connors, Joy Fawcett, Kim Pickup, Lisa Krzykowski, Daniela, Julie Foudy, Aly Wagner, Allie Sullivan, Zhang Ouying, Shannon MacMillan (Susan Bush 11).

Not sure why Mac got sub'd out so early. Maybe she didn't fly well after the USWNT match. It will be interesting to see how long Lilly, Sobrero, and Hucles can go, not to mention Fawcett, Foudy, and Wagner.

So Boston gets the early goal again. That's a nice pattern. Let's hope they can break the pattern of giving up late goals. ;)

Out with a stress fracture in the foot. Kluegel replaced her during the NT camp before yesterday's game.

And Gonzalez gets booked just prior to the goal which makes me think that they scored off a free-kick restart.

45th Minute. Substitution: 16-Christine McCann for 15-Kate Sobrero
53rd Minute. Substitution: 20-Rebekah McDowell for 11-Angela Hucles

Three of our four subs have been used.

    Still works here. :)

87th Minute. Foul Suffered by 13-Kristine Lilly, 5th of match.

Damn, they just keep whacking her. I'd bet that the other teams have crates of the Lilly bobblehead dolls that they practice smashing. ;)

Match still at 1-1 and it sounds like we are facing the usual late game crush on the Breakers' goal.

Well that leaves us in 3rd due to Goal Differential and vulnerable to a lot of teams.I sure hope we get a big crowd on Sunday vs Atlanta
