Re: Re: 5/16/03: Young American Absolutely. If we can play in the Confederations Cup - we should play in the Copa America. This is a far more meaningful tourney. This Cleveland stuff is just weird - the name has come up a couple times now, seemingly out of nowhere.
From the Denver Post: "Down 1-0 at the half, defender Craig Ziadie - a cousin of Rapids midfielder Mark Chung - responded for the MetroStars by assisting on forward Clint Mathis' 51st-minute goal." Chung and Ziadie are cousins? Ziadie plays for Jamaica and Chung is of Chinese heratige and was born in Canada, but is a US citizen. Regarding Copa America, I too hope we accept, but my gut has this funny feeling that we won't. This is far more significant than the Confed Cup, which is a lot closer to the "Nike US Cup" than it is to a mini-World Cup. Tom
That is 100% true - believe it or not. Chung and Ziadie are cousins. And as far as I know, he's not Fraser's cousin.
From the Ohio article: "In MLS circles, the Columbus Crew's 4-year-old stadium is considered the league's crown jewel. But local businessmen are already boasting (privately, of course) that if Cleveland lands an expansion team, its home will make Crew Stadium look like a glorified cornfield with bleachers - and easily rank as the premier field in the MLS." Now this is a very welcome sign of the kind of competitive attitude among businessmen that will get things done. Whenever you get guys with lots of money and something to prove, you get shovels breaking ground.
I thought ZEEE (Chris' brother who used to always post on the DC Boards) said that Frasier was his cousin. I could be wrong though.
