Go eat a crumpet you wanker. Just because you are a pom does not mean you know jack about soccer. Darts is popular in the UK too.

I'm rarely happy when I have to eat my words, but this is one of those times. A job well done by the whole team. But Mr. Gargan, whatever you did before this game...KEEP DOING IT! That was the best performance I've ever seen out of Dan. Dare I say it, he saved the game.

    Bouna, Bouna he's our man,
but if he's out of the box,
    we'll depend on Gargan!

great game was there. They all looked good especially Bouna. One complaint of the players was playing on this terp. Their feet hurt on this stuff. Kyle took his cleats off right on the field and walked in the locker room with them off. This happened last year also. Their feet get extremely hot on the bottom on this field.

One comment that I forgot and then just remembered when I went to MLSNet. Those fans who were critical of our attendance in that horrible weather, what do you have to say about the Red Bulls. They are in first place, undefeated, playing the first place team in the other division, on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, and they can only manage 7,000. Now that is definitely not so good!!!!

I believe the poor attendance today can be blamed on mother's day. Family first :)

I'm always impressed that in a metropolitan area of over 10 million people that such a small number, 7000, are mothers day nay sayers. All the rest just love their moms.

I love my Rapids so much, if they would have been in town my family would have certainly taken me! I was close to booking a trip to NY just to go to the match. I'm just glad they gave me an awesome mothers day present from afar - it made my day! :) Also, I was one of the critical Gargan voices last week and have to especially thank him for today's fantastic performance, topped by an outstanding goal save! I agree it was the best match I've ever seen him play.

First you then Gargan and then Nico, (props to Gomez for finding Nico).

Mostly props to you and your speach.

Good performances all around, and an unexpected road win! How to account for 3 points in NYC, where they ne'er do well, and only 1 point in two home games? Inconsistency is still the story in the young season.

But we'll take the points and the West lead, and try to make DSG a little scarier for the other team. Gargan and the D with a solid game, The Mids knew enough to play a smart counterattack game, and the fowards worked hard. Wingert did well in relief, and Peterson had a mature stint in crunch time.

Bouna did very well in the 2nd, but had some luck in the 1st, and Nico is my MOTM.

That's one of the few goals I've seen this season that looked nice.

With 11 game-ready players we would really be something.

I've got a funny one for you. We went to visit my wife's mom in the nursing home 2 hours away and by the time we got there the game was already started. She has cable there and Telefutura is on it so I got there and turned it right on at 37 minutes. As I turned it on there was an info banner on the screen and it said Kirovski - Amarillo 37th minute. Oh yeah, forgot to mention that Telefutura is in Spanish and I don't speak Spanish at all. So, never got any info from the announcers but, as I sat there and thought, I put it in my mind that Clavio was finally catching on and had made the great decision to sub him out of the game at a much earlier point in the game. The screen was very fuzzy and the camera work from a distance so I could not read shirt numbers but I could tell the players by positions and style and stature. At about 75 minutes there was a long high ball that someone on our team mishandled and it went right to the other team just outside their 18 yard line and they countered and almost scored. I remember thinking that the mysterious Rapid player looked eerily familiar and the style of play seemed to be that of Kirovski but I shrugged it off as a mistake on my part because I was still very happy about his having been "subbed" out early in the match. Well I was wrong, of course about the substitution but I had to laugh, in a sad sort of way when I was finally able to get home and look at matchtracker and verify that he had actually been in the game the whole time. He was virtually invisible as a team member during the game. He had no positive impact that I noticed. I just thought he was on the bench where he should be.

I thought Gomez stunk the place up throughout the whole game. He mishandled the ball probably 16-18 times that completely stopped our offense and opened us up to counter-attacks. His pass to Nico was a thing of beauty, though. And he has an upside. He's young and has some skill and speed and could develop into a quality team player if he works on basic skills A LOT and gets forced into more smart team play.

Long post, I know. I'm sorry, but having to live through these past two seasons of having Kirovski in almost every minute of every game has made it necessary to vent in this way. I was there for his first two games in a Rapids uniform and I remember watching him in the middle, wandering back and forth as the play passed him by each time it moved from end-to-end. Since then there have only been a handful of times when I thought it would be justified to start him due to missing, unavailable or injured players. But, game after game he has started and played throughout. Let me re-state that. He has been on the field throughout the whole match countless times. It really is like playing with 10 men. I better stop. This is way too long.

Good job, men. Make a strong stand at home for the next two games and you will be well on your way to a noteworthy season.

IMO clavijo did his best job coaching bringing in the subs. I sorta remember a game earlier in the season when he didn't sub and I think we ended with a tie or almost a tie.. can't remember. Cooke was not helping much on defense so he pulled him and put gomez wide and brought ugo into the middle and then got brown off who can't control the ball and brought in peterson... effective.

LOL...am I the only one here who thinks this win was very, very ugly. I really wasn't happy with the way they played at all. I am sure some of it had to do with the crappy turf (that stuff is just silly...the ball dug into it like it had come off a 9 iron shot). The guys just look uninspired and if not for a couple of lucky bounces, this is a 3-1 loss.

I know, I know...every team gets a couple of lucky wins a year. This was obviously one of those wins. The Rapids had to have been a little tired after the game Thursday as well as from the travel...I think it is safe to say NY lost this more than Colorado won it.

3 points is still 3 points and that is what matters in the end.

I second the overall ugliness of the match. At least the turf wasn't 130 degrees, like last year's mid-day Friday debacle.

It was definitely ugly. Neutral fans will complain about the quality and entertainment value.

I wouldn't say NY lost this so much and Colorado stole it. Bouna made the saves. Gargan's save off the line. Beckerman, Gomez, & Niko capitalized on an opportunity. Wingert stepping in and playing solid. Peterson coming in and taking the pressure off. It wasn't pretty, but it was well executed.

After Thursday night had anyone told me, we'd win on the road in NY who's played well, on the third day after our last game, with the same line-up that couldn't do it on Thursday, on turf, still not have Ugo back, lose Vanney for Wingert as a sub during the game.... Well, I guess I wouldn't be, I wasn't, very optimistic.

So it was ugly, but I'm still very pleased with a lot of what I saw as well as the result.

That turf sure was strange, I bet the NY can turn that into an advantage.

Don't understand that one. That was a great finish and a good "team" goal to boot.

At first glance, it's a better quality goal than Twellman's and Martino's for sure. Dicchio's was a nice finish too, but with most of the goal to shoot at, it was all about his athleticism. Anyhow, Nico's goals was better than at least two of those goals. Sunday game gets no love, eh?

    I'm wondering that too.

I didn't get to watch the game. Was going to grab it via bitTorrent but it looks like between CO and NY no pirates were interested in getting the match out there. So I gave up my internet blackout.

Beside the word on Vanney, how long before we get Prideaux back?

Any chance that we'll see Wasson or Clarke in the first team and on the pitch in uniform during a game before the all-star game?

Solid win to say the least. Shep and JP also thought the team played near perfect in the first 45.

Gargan played very well again today. Wingert came in on a tough situation and equally well. Dane is ridiculously fast ! All around solid performance and Bouna made some quality saves.

If our pettiness means that players like Gargan elevate their games (well done for a good match vs. Red Bull), you'll be hearing much more whining from me in the coming weeks. ;)
