Time to move on, put it behind us, and focus on the next challenge.

I hope not to see Kirovski in this game, but if we have to I hope it isn't in midfield. I also am very hopeful that we get Ugo back, he made a difference for the team, as did Prideaux who I hope comes back soon.

    --------------BOUNA
    --Ugo ----Petke--Mastro--- Vanney
    --Cooke -- Beckers - Pepe - Clark
    -----------Gomez - Brown

Give Kiro and Niko a little time to relax. Why not try playing a left wing as a left wing?

Regarding Ugo, I'm going glass half full and thinking FC held him out last night feeling he would not be able to play both last night and Sunday and wanted to save him for Sunday. Of course, I wouldn't be surprised if he was still hurt and doesn't even make the trip.

Regarding Jovan, I expect him to play. FC has not shown, this year at least, any interest in letting on field play influence not playing his preferred players. Ditto with Niko.

It's a suddenly vulnerable Red Bulls squad as well, one which gave up zero goals in four games but then surrendered six in two (including the USOC match).

If that's the case I'd really like for him to play as a forward rather in midfield.

we need for team play... cooke must be less predictable and help on defense because of their speed . i want pablo back in the middle. When kyle has to play so far back there is noon on offense that can distribute as well as he does. I have never seen jovan dribble with the ball nor have give and goes with anyone. When kyle has to play so far back he can only pass sideways because noone on offensive keeps the ball long enough to get any offense going. After the houston game any other coach would of tried different players to get some team chemistry on offense and defense.

    Bouna
    gargan/ wingert/ Ugo Petke Vanney

    Peterson pablo nico c

Red Bull is a paper tiger. The only difference is that most of the league hasn't found that out yet. However, I don't see us winning this one. Not with 3 games in seven days. Hell, the FSL game felt like a loss. We are not going to prevent anyone from scoring without Ugo and Prideaux. Gargan is the Achilles heel of our defense. He can't hold the right with his ball chasing tendencies. To add to that our midfield has had problems linking up with the strikers. The Rapids have looked dysfunctional in the last two outings.

I am going with Ugo returning to the lineup

    Bouna
    Wingert - Ugo - Petke - Vanney
    Cooke - Beckers - Pablo - Nico
    Brown - Hercules
    If Ugo can't go

    Bouna
    Wingert - Pablo - Petke - Vanney
    Cooke - Beckers - Cancela - Nico
    Brown - Hercules

Would like to see a few changes. Probably won't happen with FC but we can hope.

FC's lineup If Ugo a go...

    -----------Bouna----------
    Ugo--Petke--Pablo--Vanney
    Cooke--Kyle--Jovan--Gomez
    --------Brown---Herc------

FC's lineup If Ugo it a Nogo...

    Gargan--Petke--Pablo--Vanney
    Cooke--Kyle--Jovan--Gomez
    --------Brown---Herc------

You can't teach an enigma a new...

Remember the good old days when we would post all sorts of whacky lineups because you could never predict what the enigma would put on the field? :)

Gonna be a tough game: Road game....3rd game in 7 days.....Artificial turf.....going against a solid team with a new "star" forward. I think RBNY is good but not as good as everyone is hyping them up to be at the moment.

    Here's the line-up I'd like to see:

Although I agree that somehow, someway, FC will find a way to get Kiro in the starting lineup. I say a 2-2 tie or 2-1 RBNY win.

But seriously folks, this looks pretty good to me, though this

    Gargan - Ugo - Petke - Vanney
    Cooke - Becks - Mastro - Nico
    -----Gomez - Brown

    I think might work, too.

I would like to see Hercz play more as a striker and have Jose Cancela play in the in the mid, take out Gargan and put in Ugo, the rapids will need a strong mid play if they going to try for a win, maybe a 4-5-1 to eat up plenty of space, especially with Reyna and Mathis...

i go for kyle and pablo in the middle. I know the coach won't... He wants to coach this season on the edge for his job.... Think about it .. People on this board stated that pablo had a bad game against houston and then own goal last night. so why has this coach change a good thing to a iffy thing for one postion...If ugo is not back try wingert for one half and see how i goes

I think you really need to watch Cancela ($156,000) play more, because you do not want him to continue to slow down our attacks. If you have seen any of his play in the reserve games or even thursday's game, every time he received the ball the play seemed to slow down or stop. We have good young players that out preform him day in and day out, we need to put these players in rather than our over paid Cancela
(he is a reserve player at best)

OK, seriously Phills. Whether you are Kyle's dad or agent, it's not doing him any service consistantly making any comment that gets Kyle at attacking mid. He will NEVER be a dynamic scorer AND that's OK. His strength is the fact that he plays possession and defense first... these are the qualities that will continue to get him USMNT looks. In fact, a defensive mid with 7 goals is MUCH more impressive than an attacking mid with 10 goals. Kyle works extremely well with Pablo and Wasson in the middle because ALL of those guys play defense first and covet possession. Cancela and Jovan will always make their midfield partner look less effective because they play ZERO defense. At least you get some offense with Cancela, but he plays like he has no confidence in his teammates. Watch how he passes the ball, then runs to that teammate to try and get the ball back. Support is one thing, but finding space is better. Still should be an upgrade from Jovan.

Ugo was out with injury. If he's back, he's gonna take Gargan's place. Against RSL, Pablo was BRILLIANT in the center... probably 2 points worth. When Prideaux is back, Pablo goes up a level and our team gets better by several levels.

Nico has to sit. 5 games at forward and another at left mid with no shots on goal... unacceptable at any level. This team has the pieces if FC can fit them together.

Prediction: Ugo is a 1.5 goal spread against RBNY as we need the horses to match up. If he's in: Tie 2 - 2 If he's out: RBNY 3 - 1 or 3 - 2

I agree with all your comments. My comments were just as a coach trying to think of ways as to how to improve. I just want someone in the middle that will also play defense so that Kyle can play a more two way mid role. His goals last year were not all from long range and our goal count is not that great this year so far. This year he has a goal and assist from close range. Hopefully Pablo will be back in the middle soon. If he goes to the gold cup then I would like to see wasson . I just don't understand what Clavijo see in Jovan that it took 80 or so mins this past game to try someone new.

I think that Beckerman is neither an a-mid, nor a d-mid...i think he's just an overall 2-way mid.

Ugo's injury is something that's slowed him down before, right? I think Clavijo will play it conservative and not play him this game, give him some extra rest.
I'd like to see him at RB again until Prideaux is back, but I think Gargan will get the start. My prediction is that we'll see the same lineup we saw against RSL.

As for the game itself... I think Pablo is going to take out a chunk of Mathis with a hard tackle and a brawl between the two will result in red cards for each. We'll need someone to step it up defensively in the midfield to cover Reyna or hope he is injured (happens often). Juan Pablo Angel is new to the team, so he might have something to prove, or hopefully he won't link up well with teammates. You've gotta think Freeman and Mathis will be psyched up for this one (look for them to play hard but get cards). If I'm Clavijo I use all three subs (Cancela for Jovan at 45, Casey for Brown 60, Peterson for Nico 75). I think the result will be a Red Bull win by a goal, but am hoping for at least a draw.

I don't think you're wrong. One asterick I'd put there is that tuesday night on the radio show Clavijo did say we very well could see Ugo thursday night. I wouldn't be surprised if he was good enough to play thursday night but Clavijo held off to give him a couple more days of rest + knowing that with 3 games in 8 days that he'll need a bit of squad rotation and figured he'd play Ugo on the road when we really, really could use Ugo to either play RB and let Pablo move into the midfield and give Beckerman more freedom to push into the attack.

It's been difficult, but I've held my comments until the season progressed a bit. I can't hold back any longer.

    <cynical rant>
There were enough new faces that it was only fair to give the coaching staff enough time to settle on a lineup and work around injuries and players getting sent off. Unless something changes rather quickly, the countdown to the end of the FC era has begun.

FC traded a first round pick for Kirovski. Kirovski was and is and always will be an expensive failure. Refusing to cut his losses, FC keeps playing him. FC has players on the bench who have demonstrated hustle, ability to create scoring opportunities, and unselfish team play. I've never seen a player score a goal or stop one from the bench. The new stadium is a jewel, and should give the Rapids a huge advantage. It hasn't, because of the lineup. Rather than using the field and altitude and blazing speed to grind opponents into the dirt, the Rapids start slower players, shrink the field and look timid on the attack.

Last season, the Rapids demonstrated poor passing, an inability to finish, and occasionally staggering defensive lapses. During the first six matches this season, the Rapids have demonstrated poor passing, an inability to finish, and occasionally staggering defensive lapses. During the past two seasons, the Rapids have finished at or just below .500, and were outscored by opponents. So far this season, the Rapids are .500 and have been outscored by opponents. Recognizing the obvious impact of missing players, the team still does not appear to be getting stronger as the season progresses.

This match is crucial for the Rapids. If FC keeps doing what he has been doing, why should we expect a different result?
    </cynical rant>
