Disappointed not to even score. :( True, a couple shots went off the woodwork, but you aren't usually going to beat Given without some real quality shots.

Messi didn't have the best of games but his interplay with Ibra showed lots of promise.

Gai tried to do too much.

Muniesa always looks like he just saw a ghost.

I was noticing that as well. Though it seemed to me more that he wasn't getting the ball where he was expecting to get it. If he's still looking surprised when Xavi's sending passes his way then we may be in trouble.

No kidding. On the plus side, I'm really like Jonathon dos Santos.

Did anyone else think that this lineup from Pep was a not so subtle jab at Txiki? Just to show him that he needs a few signings? I know: even with that team we dominated ManCity, and we were unlucky, and we hit the post twice, etc, etc. But it seemed like a little tantrum to me

I really like cantera players, but this was an important game to win. A friendly, but it's always good to build confidence, and besides it was "our cup". He could've fielded a more competitive team. Xavi could've played at least 30 minutes. Good news is that most canteranos played well, and didn't look out of place. Good thing we played Man City and not Arsenal! :p

Gai is really promising, but he isn't ready yet. I think he should be loaned to a primera team, so he van get regular playing time at the top level. Some nice runs, but a lot of baffling choices.

I was really impressed by Thiago and JDS yesterday. They played like veterans. JDS even had that rocket shot off the crossbar. Too bad Thiago missed that chance at the end of the match.

Ibra looked slow and way out of synch(which is expected, after a month off the field), but he had a few nice details. He had a nice give and go with Messi, and I think they'll hook up nicely during games.

I think Pep just made an executive decision that this was not going to be the case this year. That takes balls with 100,000 people in the stands, but I guess he thinks he's earned himself a lot of leeway.

I agree, it takes a lot of balls. People usually go the Gamper to see the new team in action for the first time. It's the official presentation of the team, and they want to be wowed. It's a big deal. Pep knows this. That's why I think he was trying to make a point.

Hey guys, I went to the game yesterday and I thought the youngsters looked very promising. Fontas (?), left footed in central defense was solid, Muniesa we know, Jeffren and Thiago and JDS were fantastic. Ibra needs time, but I think two great players like him and messi are going to find eachother.

my two highlights were the way Jeffren trapped a ball on his chest, which was a rocket from the other side of the field from Alves, and the shoulder pass from, I think, Thiago. too bad they didnt win but it was nice to see all those young talents.

I think Ibra needs Henry making runs for him to be influential. Ibra works with a partner doing some of the dirty work, ie runs into the box, playing off the shoulder. We saw however, how vital Xavi & Iniesta, and even Toure are.

Keita is good at making a late run into the box and getting on a header, but he's not the best 45-55 yards away from goal escorting the ball from the back that's not what we need him for.
