Jaclyn is one trooper. I saw it live and that must have hurt and then she comes back out and scores and excellent header. She is inspiring. Got an autograph from the stars of BILB. Wambach may complain that because she is big that she is unfairly called for fouls. Flummery. She is just a rough player. That first goal for Little was beautiful. The way she ran around the Power defense and then shot it. I don't think anyone could stop her. She was on fire. That second goal was cheap. After a corner, the ball rolled back into the box and Little kicked it hard enough for Smolak to get a hand to it but not stop it. I thought she was offside too.

I mean it looked like she really went for the ball but still it was a bad decision of Jacqui's. Should have been a yellow.

"I tried to put it in here, but couldn't."

    How did that happen?

Jaclyn Raveia is my hero! She's the new Gro. :)

After she went into the training room, I realized we were playing a man down for a loooooong time. I kept asking Meagan "are we playing short??" and we'd both count and yep, there were only 9 field players. I'm like, "is she coming back?? what are they doing??" and sure enough, back she came.

She went out and played the rest of the game like nothing was wrong and goes and gets a beauty of a header goal for NY.

After the game she's got her arm in a sling and blood is running from her nose, but she's got a smile on her face, even with 5 stitches in her mouth and a possibly fractured collarbone. Yep, Gro would be proud. :D

Oh! and the Freedom didn't even come close to exploiting the Power playing short either. Sheesh.

I had a chance to watch the game tape last night and I do have to say that Jacqui was quite concerned and sportsman like after the collision. As she herself is lying there, she's asking "are you alright? Is she alright?" She also went up to her after the game and talked for a few minutes, showing genuine concern while apologizing to Jaclyn. Jaclyn was quite alright about it all and knew Jacqui didn't mean it at all.

It all happened so fast and of course the main camera was not on the action, but in the replays with other camera angles, you could see they both were charging for the ball and I don't think Jacqui saw Jaclyn at all, until it was too late.

Dumb mistake, but not malicious at all.

No, it wasn't malicious at all I think. She was there and Skylar was over there too checking on her sister. It was just unfortunate. But brava to Jaclyn for keeping her chin up? and playing well in the rest of the game.

    Dear Diary - April 15, 2003

Jaclyn Raveia Diary on the Past Week!

Here is a quote from it:

"Around the fifteen-minute mark, Mia chipped a ball into the space in front of me. I watched it bounced and saw Jacqui Little running on to it. I judged the distance and knew I could get to the ball first. The last thing I remember is going in to head the ball, and, suddenly, I was on the ground. When I opened my eyes, I saw that I was bleeding and my collarbone really hurt. Jacqui had accidentally kicked me in the face with the bottom of her cleats. Luckily, her cleats hit me just below my nose. If it had been an inch higher or lower, I could have been seriously hurt. Unfortunately, her cleats cut me pretty badly, so I had to go off because I was bleeding. The only way to stop the bleeding was to get some quick stitches, so the doctor took me in and stitched me up. I was lucky enough to be able to get back on the field, but I had been gone for fifteen minutes. I can’t believe how brave and skilled my team was to play a man down for fifteen minutes and not give up a goal."
