So England has replaced 5 starting players with Phil Jones, Danny Rose, Eric Dier, Fabian Delph and Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Gone are Kyle Walker, Ashley Young, Jordan Henderson, Dele Alli and Jesse Lingard. So main guys like Harry Kane and Harry Maguire still start...While Belgium will keep all starting guys in tact. They are determined to get number 3 spot. Should be good game

Looks like Russia has a wonderful WC so far: good attendance, no big controversy, no doping scandals...

England can rest their entire starting lineup, but if they lose, they will be seen as a side that made the semifinals without ever beating any team ranked above Sweden. With its only other wins, not counting the penalty shootout against Colombia (technically a draw), against Tunisia and Panama. Under such facts, few will take England finishing 4th as implying they were among the top 4 teams in this tournament, when they will have lost to Belgium twice, lost to Croatia, and failed to beat anyone ranked above Sweden.

Fast counter almost brings the score up to 2-0

If Sterling was a golfer, he would have the ‘yips’...he cannot pull the trigger and has already wasted 2-3 decent chances

Whenever Sterling has the ball he screws up. Opponents must feel comfortable when he's in control.

IIRC, 3rd place playoffs don't count towards the golden boot.

Sterling really needs to learn how to pass better.

I have never understood why Southgate has stuck with Sterling. It has seemed that Rashford would have been a better choice.

Well, from what I have seen, neither Sterling or Rashford click with Kane. It basically goes from Sterling's poor passing to Rashford's poor movement (relative to Kane).

God bless the people who pay $ to watch a 3rd place match. They can actually be entertaining games, but is devoid of any tension a WC game should have.

Huh? They most certainly do! Toto Schillachi won the golden boot by scoring a penalty for Italy in 1990. Where in the world did you read that? It's an official world cup match. The fastest goal ever scored in a world cup was Turkey in the 3rd placed playoff.

What I remember from that tournament is that he and somebody were tied at 6 goals, and Schillachi scored in the 3rd place play off to win, but it didn't count towards his total. A quick look shows Schillachi and Mathaus were tied at 6 goals for WC90.
