FWIW, the local San Jose sports writer who does an MLS Power Poll each week has this listing this week:

    1. New England
    2. FC Dallas
    3. Chicago
    4. Earthquakes
    5. Los Angeles
    6. DC United
    7. Metrostars
    8. Kansas City
    9. Colorado
    10. Columbus
    11. RSL
    12. Chivas

(Sorry guys, still no love for Dallas)

The nice thing is that we play them twice over the next six weeks. That and our games against the MetroStars, as well as Saturday, ought to answer any questions about which is the better team.

I'm with you on most of this....I guess when the Quakes only beat Dallas 1-0 Saturday, it won't hurt you too much.

Your confidence is surprising, considering the fact that we're pretty used to not having our big guns, but you're not. And we still have the best central midfielder in the league in Ronnie O'Brien. And I believe Ruiz will be back - think he might be hungry for a goal?

Unless we sleepwalk, you're going to have a hard time getting a result on Saturday - esp. after having had to play a mid-weeker.

But hey, as of now, you can say you are one of few teams who have not fallen to Dallas at least once this season. Enjoy it while you can. (The other on the list who have actually played Dallas - KC. The rest are teams we have yet to play.)

More like bravado....I agree, it's a tough match up for San Jose - short week, no DeRosario or Davis or Ching, just getting bad news that Ching has to have surgery on his hamstring......but, with how well the defense has been playing, and the fact that San Jose has been pretty good on the road, I can always hope.

If we burn our wings flying too close to the sun
If the moment of glory is over before it's begun
If the dream is won though everything is lost
We will pay the price but we will not count the cost

When the dust has cleared, and victory denied
A summit too lofty, a river a little too wide
If we keep our pride though paradise is lost
We will pay the price but we will not count the cost

And if the music stops (and) there's only the sound of the rain
All the hope and glory, all the sacrifice in vain
(And) If love remains though everything is lost
We will pay the price but we will not count the cost

Rock on. We've been there often enough.
