While you're there, check out how Buzz predicted all but one of the All-Star starters. Let's see how he does on the coach's picks.

The Quakes have been playing well of late, despite numerous absences due to injuries (Ching, Dayak, Mullan, Waibel) and national team call-ups (DeRosario, Davis).

    - unbeaten in the last 7 games (4 wins, 3 draws), 4-0-1 in the last 5 games
    - with Danny Califf in the line-up, the defense has given up 4 goals in 8 games, posting 5 shut-outs.

    4-1-5 against western conferernce teams
    3-2-2 against eastern conference teams
    1-0-3 against expansion teams ;)
    4-0-4 at home
    3-3-3 on the road

Are they for real? We will find out as the Quakes continue their current 4-game road trip. So far, so good: 4 points in the first two games (win in Columbus, draw in Dallas despite being down a man for nearly 60 minutes of that game).

Am i supposed to anaylize these "power" rankings? :)

The Onionsack Power Rankings are as follows:

    1. FC Dallas
    2. Chicago Fire - they are hot right now ;)
    3. New England Revs - have an excuse but still playing bad last 4 weeks
    4. San Jose Quakes- surprising midseason surge
    5. Metrostars - playing better than their record
    6. Kansas City - yawn...same old KC
    7. LA Galaxy - if they could get road results they are top 3-4.
    8. DC United - Freddy returns..winning strak leaves
    9. COlorado - they should just play with 10 men all the time
10 Chivas USA - starting to get it
    11. Columbus Crew- They stink...Fire Andrulis :)
    12. Real Salt Lake - deserve to be last after that Goat rape

Up to you. FWIW, I can see the argument for Chicago No. 2 in terms of how they are playing right this very moment - but I think that there is something to the fact that Chicago is playing a bit better with less players than NE is, and it will correct itself once the Gold Cup is over.

The good has been pointed out. The bad is their record against the expansion teams.

At the end of the day, you have a team that is young and talented. This team is going to be good for a few years. Part of the surge came in when Califf came back from injury.

Right now, they are at the top of that middle group. Chicago is somewhere between the middle group and the top two - sometimes they are good enough to be in that top two, sometimes they aren't.

The Football Club plays NE and Metro twice over the next month. That will tell us a lot about those three teams.
