Knock on wood... I've definitely been following the Chicago-Mexico City flight...it's going to be really tough to pull off if the US does make it since it's going to be really last minute. Gonna have to hope for an Aeromexico webfare or something. If the US were to make it, I wonder how many Americans would be able to make the trip down?
LA to Mexico City is pretty reasonable too (as low as $249)....A friend has suggested flying out of TJ though...either way, I'm gonna make it happen if I can. Too bad the wife will want to tag along.
I'm looking into the possibility of the quick trip to watch the USA defeat Mexico for the first time in Azteca.
How difficult would it be to get a ticket? I figured for a US-Mexico match, the thing would be a sellout.
I would suspect a ticket would be possible. You'll have your scalpers wanting to unload their tickets. Plus I would think the USSF would have some tickets in hand to dish out when they make the final match.
You can get a ticket. I have the phone number to Azteca and have called them many times. They are very nice but nobody speaks English. Even if the game sells out you can get one from a scalper. I paid 500 pesos (48 dollars) for a 280 peso ticket to the Honduras-Mexico qualifier on November 11, 2001. That game was completely sold out. The guys on the Mexico BB helped me plan how to do it. It was easy.
