A story from La Gazzetta dello Sport today that Antonio Di Natale will not renew with Udinese at the end of this season and will instead set his sights on the USA.

Udinese, Di Natale: "Via a giugno". Poi andrà in America: New York lo tenta

The reported destination is New York, although not necisarrily MLS (Cosmos is mentioned), with a rumored salary offer of €8 million over two years.

I think the writer/agent is unfamiliar with US soccer economics. No NASL team is coming up with that sort of scratch for anyone. That converts to $9.15M over two years. I think everyone is dreaming of "Giovinco Bucks".

As they should if they have bargaining power and are proven top 4 league players. See, that's the downside of some of these DP contracts. Potential DP's will demand the same as that's the money MLS now says top DP's are worth. And, if MLS doesn't change it's salary structure and raise the cap a fair amount, the top heavy model will get more out of control.

Seems like a lot will change between now and May. DiNatale just said a few months ago on the domenica sportiva he and his family were happy living in Udine.
