In the 32nd minute it sounds just like Waldo says something like, "That's what's so great about him is that ************ing long stride".

Did he really say that? I rewound it and listened again and it sounds just like it. Did anyone else catch it?

I coulda sworn Stoner said "bitching and moaning" at one point.

    But I didn't notice that.

I could of swore he said it too, but it's possible he could have said "pitching and moaning" and if he's reading this, I suggest that's the story Rob should go with when the higher ups ask him about it. :)

    Midwest, the real one.
"Even when he gets beat, it's that second and third step."

I could have sworn he said the same. I gasped out of suprise. I forgot pretty soon after though. That stadium is absolutely breath-taking.

Heh Thanks. I rewound it 2-3 times and listened to it. It still sounded like '************ing' to me. =)

Me too. I had to think of what he might say before "third."

Stoner's fine..someone ought to replace Wynalda...he loses more and more personality every week.

Pretty soon, you could replace him with a blow up sex doll.

me too. i like him because he HAS an opinion. but there was a weird moment in the pregame festivities where he and caliguri looked like they were going to make out.

I like Waldo's commentary too. When Stone or Keogh go off on their madness, Waldo is not afraid to dump the party line and throw an ixnay in there. Also, he has a better perspective of what's taking place on the field than his two cohorts, especially Keogh. According to Keogh, every foul has some degree of malicious intent behind it.

yea, stoner did say bitching on air.

and yes, caliguri placed his hand on the small of wynalda's neck and started to lean in and I freaked out.

you must not be as "Crazy" as you claim if you're freaked out by men leaning toward each other.

Wynalda isn't bad at sideline commentary, because he actually provides insight into the game. Stoner will say something like, "Oh man, Landon is like...dude, he's fast, dude." and Wynalda will say, "It looks like Landon is just getting over that knock he took in the first half. After that, he just kind of disappeared but now he's getting back into the game a little bit more, and they are giving him more space."

I'm not sure what Ty is doing during this time, but I'm fairly certain he's still moving his mouth even if no words are coming out.

They kiss every U.S. players ass, too.

But you know what? I'm just glad we can watch soccer on TV. Not only that, but it's a soccer specific stadium. That thing is freaking beautiful.

i agree, wynalda's good. I like how he's increased the power of the sideline reporter by butting in with intelligent commentary when the "doods" in the booth are babling.

i like that too, normally the sideline reporter waits until someone asks him a question before speaking

there was also some awkward silence for a bit when i thought they were both going to cry as they stared into each other's eyes. it was amusing.

Really...I would only give him a C grade right now. He's still horribly inarticulate at times; stumbling to make his point; often filling the air with far too many, "huhs, well..hum.." And often what he adds is superfluous. That though IMO, is often due to Stone, who doesn't set him up right, and the fact that he and Ty are doing similar jobs. Perhaps someone at MLS wants Ty & Eric to be like Bill Walton and Steve Jones were at NBC? Not the worse idea, but they need a better straight man than Stone. Perhaps they should bring back Veronica on the sidelines and put Eric in the booth.

And jokes aside re: the Caliguri interview, if you didn't not know any better you would have thought it was Paul and not Eric who was the on-air guy, as Paul comments were far more articulate and to the point. The willingnes to take a critical jab-to be "outspoken"-doesn't make one a good TV commentator, and IMO, Wynalda has a lot of work to do.

We tried that last year, and demoted her to halftime puff pieces this year.

OK, in all seriousness, I think Waldo does a good job.
