on the heels of the prior thread regarding 5 underachieving players, id like to see everyones opinion on the flip side of the matter, 3 players that actually performed in this "disastrous" season.

Ronaldo - I can't see how people want to sell him. He is pichichi even though he didn't play in something like 8 games, scores in almost all the games he plays in, and scores in big games too. And Raul's poor showing isn't Ronnie's fault, because a lot of the mistakes Raul made were missing wide open goals and such. I think their partnership can and will work, as it did in Ronnie's first season
Solari - Any other club in Europe this guy would be the first choice left midfielder. Has pace, skill, determination, plays defense, and scored some goals this year. He is the perfect player for Madrid: a excellent player who is not unhappy to sit on the bench and wait for an opportunity
Figo - Even though his best years are behind him, he still has the skill and cunning to beat people and either get good crosses off, make a good pass, or take a shot. I don't think he should take PKs, and he goes too the ground to easily and complains too much, he did better than anyone expected this year and will fight very hard with (hopefully) Joaquin and maybe Beckham to hold onto the right midfield spot.

Figo - the biggest surprise for me. I was expecting him to lower his level given the fact that he is already 31, but his heart proved to be larger than what I gave him credit for. Usually the player that gave it his best.

Solari - the ultimate sub, and in my opinion should have started at least half the games. What I like the most about him is his verticallity... always looks forward and somehow almost never loses the ball when dribbling past players of the opposite team.

Casillas - we owe a lot of points to this guy. Plain and simple the best keeper in the world in my opinion.

Ronaldo - hes top striker in the world (dont have to say to much about him, we all know how good he is, he had bad days but it doesnt change the fact)

Casillas - Very good performence especially in Champions League.

Figo - oldest but the best midfielder on the team this year. He takes great PKs makes them 100% of the time ( i didnt see him miss a PK this year yet, but i didnt watch alot games in First Half of the season) Zidane and becks played well in first hae of the season, now its not so good.

Solari - everytime he went on the field he played at his best. he played very good against barca and not only. i give him a big + this year for his performence.

.:DEFENCE MAKES THE TEAM LOOK BAD:.

Only carlos can stop good forwards. He did good this year also.s
