Sol with late fitness test; Keown, Seaman out. www.soccernet.espn.go.com/headlinenews?id=261914&cc=5901 Game live on FSW www.foxsportsla.com/world/pdf/fsw13.pdf After a gutsy result against resurgent Everton, can the Gunners get result at Stamford Bridge? jgw
The timing of this is perfect. The 11:45 kickoff will allow me to go to my sisters house to watch this (she has cable and I don't) between my morning and late afternoon classes. Yes!! This is a massive game and unless Sol is really in danger of aggravating his injury badly he'll play. Wenger knows that you have to take a few risks now and then and an FA Cup quarterfinal replay on the road is as good a time as any to take a calculated risk. And since Sol isn't likely to do any worse than Pascal Cygan there's no harm in playing him.
Team Spirit The most heartening thing about the win against Everton was our goal celebrations. Paddy's response spoke for itself, but, the way the boys congratulated Cygan's goal showed just how much everyone was willing him to do well. That can only help Cygan's confidence and is a great indication of the strength of the teams' desire to prevail together.
Re: Team Spirit Yes! I particularly liked Paddy's pumping up of the crowd. It reminded me of a defensive lineman in the NFL.
How great is it when you see the likes of a vieira kiss the badge after a crucial goal? brilliant~ phishy
PBP Planning on doing PBP tomorrow for all office-bound fans. I imagine one or more of you will be watching on TV just like I will, so jump in whenever you want - the more the merrier.
I only hope Sol passes his fitness test. It's bad enough having to play Cygan, but if Campbell's not there to cover him we're sunk. If there's any chance that Campbell can play the 90 minutes he will, Wenger's definitely looking for an excuse to pull him out of the upcoming internationals.
.. For some reason i really cannot get up for this match. I don't think i'd be that disappointed if we went out, although the build up to the final is always an exciting feeling. Chelsea are at full strength and are flying at the minute, with Ranieri saying that his team are at their fittest since he arrived. I wonder if Henry will be rested? Prediction? 1-1 full time - lose 2-1 in e-t. Roll on the Villa!
Re: PBP I'll be glued to the TV. Just as well, because I'd hate to jinx the FA Cup since I already trashed the CL.
Henry says it's time to dig deep; still no word on Campbell or Viera (!) http:// soccernet.espn.go.com/headlinenews?id=262024&cc=5901 Other miscellaneous preview info: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/fa_cup/2873509.stm Among the tidbits... "The Gunners are aiming to become the first club ever to secure a second, successive League and FA Cup 'double'..."
