its from the daily mirror, what do you expect, first of all they are very left wing and not to happy with americans, so i assume this has something to do with it too. my g/f's parents subscribed to the mirror, its rather funny at times, but i would never take it to seriously.

I'd write a complaint, but I don't even want to justify that article.

I find it amazing that two MLS clubs have advanced in the CONCACAF Champion's Cup, what with that major conspiracy against us.

Hopefully this will shut those conspiracy nuts up. Congrats to both clubs and thanks for spreading the MLS word around North America, Central America, and the Carribean.

Yeah, but what about that 4-0 pasting that New England took in Costa Rica? I mean, it's inconceivable that the Revs could ever take it in the shorts 4-0.

And if you need further proof of the biased refereeing, just look at Steve Nicol's complaints about the referee! No MLS coach has ever complained about a referee's decisions before, so the bastard in black must've been on the take!

I see your point, but it's Steve Nicol we're talking about here. He played in England, need I remind you. He knows damn well not to mouth off at the referee during the game and stuff. If he's saying there's something wrong, there probably is. Interesting tidbit - Every game involving an MLS team also involved at least one red card to said team. None of the refs were American. I HIGHLY doubt that the average rate of a red card being given out is that high. No way. These refs may not have been crooked, but they weren't the brightest bulbs in the pack. They probably couldn't power an LED.

I don't know if anyone follows copa libertadores , but this usually happens in that tournament also. Shoddy refereeing, red cards and so on. I think it's accepted and that's what home field advantage means. The ref looks the other way and penalizes the visitors.
Thus you end up with River 1 and Emelec 3. River were given a red card & played the game with a man down. Emelec was awrded a dubious PK. Emelec fans were throwing liquor bottles at the goalie during a free kick, and actually hit the goalie in the shoulder and distracted him long enough to get a goal. A fight broke out on the pitch, police, fans and players, all in the mix. After the game they asked the players if they lost because they were a man down, and they sort of shrugged it off as if they accepted the conditions of the game. This is what you get when you play in these tournaments. So if anyone doesn't like this there's more to come if we ever make it into libertadores.
