I too believe that's Namoff and Gros. The Coffee Pot Cup is simply brilliant. I hope it remains a long standing tradition between DC United and the Charleston Battery.
http://www.ibiblio.org/footy/2004/0320_char_dc_ajm/web_ajm_6731.jpg Who's this? Also interesting to see Moreno wearing #29, has Thiago moved to a new number. Oh yeah, very fancy do Mr. Olsen.
Great shots, Andy. I see that Charleston has Saab as their shirt sponsor, and we have, er, nevermind. How many years has it been since we had one? Maybe DCU can get Bobby Goldwater or Nader 2004 or something, anything, by opening day.
That match was fun. The comment was made that the 15 or so United supporters in attendance made more noise than the 4,000 Battery fans in attendance, except for the one old guy telling us to "watch (y)our damn language". Luis Chavez and I actually made the local newscast for a couple of seconds leading the "D-C-United!" chant. The Battery organization and fans are first-class.
This guy must be one of the new trialists, right? I understand he does great work when in the heat of things... specifically grills.
Did my eyes deceive me or did I see a pic of the GMan with a bottle of water? This could be a sign of the Apocolypse.......
Does anyone know if those jerseys are the DC away jerseys? Or are they just some training shirts that DC is wearing in the preseason.
Riddle: When is a pot like a hat? BTW, I was the one who presented the filled, condensation dripping trophy to Sachin. And I don't even know the Grill Master, but somehow just knew the bottled water photo would cause him grief.
I can only hope. Unfortunately with SI having their own staffer at the game - and DC United's home opener in two week's, this photo will have a limited shelf life. That said, Freddy Adu has probably been responsible for at least of 1/4 of the photos I've had published in the last year (including April's SI for Kids) Once Freddy pumps in a goal in an MLS or USOC match, this goal will likely become a footnote.
