argh... lost the hartford one as my 'puter crashed earlier... didn't even realize that it was no longer on my list thanks
4 are on professional teams... has a u-17 member ever been on a professional team before the championships? memo... galaxy gaven... metros spector... man-ure quentin westbrook... troyes
Whoa! I'm... 1) embarrassed that I totally missed this the first time around... 2) thrilled that the men's program at my alma mater has come such a long way in the 27 years since I rode the pine/manned the nets (mostly the former) for the Y... 3) wondering if other schools who have their men's team stuck in Club-side Limbo might look at this as a way of getting around Title IX and the NCAA... Remember this as well...BYU does nothing without the approval of Church HQ. The implications of that are...interesting, to say the least.
blue cat... check the news from the 27th... that has the other article... from the provo herald, iirc in addition, there is a thread on this in the USL forum (sorry no links handy at the moment)
I did, thanks! Very interesting... Just to make it a clean sweep, here's what the campus newspaper had to say... http://newsnet.byu.edu/story.cfm/42580
I think its now safe to say that all of the soccer-bashers are a threat to society as a whole. How soon can we get a warrant out for the arrests of Jim Rome's, Frank Deford and Max Kellerman?
This is very exciting progress for university soccer. Hopefully more university soccer programs will follow BYU's lead.
i'd imagine it was taken down for moral purposes i'll grab a new one soon enough ------------------------------------ McGinty... who is max kellerman?
I think this a complete list ... 91 -- O'Brien (Ajax Academy) 93 -- none 95 -- Gomez (Tahuichi Academy, does this count?) 97 -- Kartes (Olympiakos) 99 -- Donovan (Leverkusen), Palomares (Kaiserslautern), Beasley (Galaxy), Trembly (Rapids) 01 -- Quaranta (DC United), Johnson (Burn) Incidentally, there is a kid named Jay Denny who played with the U-17's over Christmas. He's one of the top prospects in Stoke City's youth system and has made appearances for their reserve team. I don't know why he isn't in the qualifying squad.
honestly, no it wasn't someone else already told me... i simply didn't know who he was, and someone told me he was on the "around the horn"... a horrible show... and i don't mean because they might say something against soccer... i mean because it's downright horrible television
i didn't know that they were one in the same. i always just refered to him as that annoying boxing guy.
Agreed. I remember him saying something negative about soccer (don't think it was on the show). I just want an excuse to arrest him and get him off my tv. Whiny little twit. It was really ironic on Sportscenter on Friday. The anchor said that things were back to normal in boxing when a fight broke out at the Ruiz/Roy Jones Jr. weigh-in. Kellerman immediately says this is another example of mainstream media making a false, negative statement about boxing. He kept whining about it too. Its always boxing that gets these negative stereotypes.
