Huge match for these clubs. Jozy's staring on the bench. yay!

0-0 25 in. Not much quality, but decently entertaining back and forth. The wind is playing its part, too.

Jedinak is such a hack. Incredible how many fouls he's committed in 30 minutes.

  5. Sorry to state the obvious, but this match is not a great advertisement for the BPL.

There's a certain agricultural beauty to it.

Sunderland have been much the better side, for what it's worth.

HT 0-0. Lots of fouls and rolling around. Ki looks like the only player capable of settling the ball, taking multiple touches, and delivering a pass. ugh

So much rolling around, disgrace that the current state of the game allows for this, regardless of country. Bardsley's flop with barely a hand on his shoulder. Oh well..

Fletcher at least has the right idea for this team: four shots in 16 touches. Of course, he failed to put any of them on target, including two from six yards. In all, Sunderland put one of 12 shots on frame. Would be nice to see the top shooter on the team in terms of percentage of attempts on target get in on this action...

Immediately he eats two defenders in a criss-cross run to free Borini for a good header... Borini was falsely called offside, though.

    Jozy almost scores. Good save.

The announcer was right, for once. Altidore did all the hard parts right, but messed up that first collecting touch. The shot he got off, though? Robbed.

Even though a more confident Altidore would have taken that initial touch and score, it was still great work to create the 2nd chance.

On second thought, I remembered how windy it is there today. Might have made the flight hard to judge. Still a bad touch, but maybe not so bad as I first thought.

I'd never thought I'd see a BPL game where Sunderland faces a team that parks the bus.

S'land looks better with him on the field. Their record with Jozy playing shows he's important for them.

I would love to see him get more important by banging a couple home.

Yeah, he could have scored. It wasn't an awful job, but a good chance to score. Thought he should have done better.

They play better when he's on the field because he is a better player than Fletcher.

Players can't go over from the slightest contact, then claim innocence when they commit awful challenges. Can't have it both ways, boys.
