"It hurts to see them with our trophy"

Get used to it Piggs. Mancs blow. Arsenal are "UNTOUCHABLE".

I will not make any comment other than to point out that at the end of last season when Wenger and some of our players said something similar to what Giggs has been quoted as saying, SOME United fans showered the boards with posts about what a bunch of whiners Arsenal were.

I know I will catch hell for this, but...
Arsenal were very lucky to get as far as they did in the CL against very weak competition. Very weak group, terrible Celta team that still may get relegated. Not awe inspiring in the CL...ever. Lucky is more like it. Arsene once again did a verbal back track...as usual. "Europe is the most important this year." After the loss of course it is not. Typical. Sir Alex, whom I despise (as much as the arrogant, blind, memory challenged Arsene) at least said the FA Cup was a priority this year after so many years of neglect, and he came through.
Will Arsenal ever have an easier group or path to the CL again? Doubtfull.
Played Man U (the hated arch nemesis 4 times)...no victories, and were Man U ever really outplayed or outclassed by Arsenal? Hardly, Man U dominated the Gunners twice. If you look at all of these FACTS without emotion it is very easy to see why Giggs said what he did. Congrats on the title, but let's face it, the P'ship does not come close to the other 4 top leagues (French, German, Italian, Spanish) as far as real competition is concerned. Used to be two teams...now three, but the rest are challenged. Go past the top six, and the P'ship starts looking very ordinary and ugly. Europe is a priority next year? What excuse is waiting?

Ladies and Gentlemen, a new contender for "Most Uninformed Post of the New Century", simply on the basis that the Prem "does not come close to the other 4 top leagues".....

Did you see the "San Siro Massacre", by any chance? Did you know an Italian side has never had 5 scored on them in a European competition there? Are you smoking grass right now???

And if you're a fan of the METROS, at least have the common courtesy to spell their team name right, for God's sake!!!

So the Welsh Wanker doesn't think Arsenal are any better than Man Utd. OOOH, so sorry Mr. Giggs, but it is OUR trophy now. I love the way the mancs refer to it as theirs, as if we just have it on loan or something. We gifted Man U the title last year by collapsing at the end of the season, but Man U have sucked the whole season, and we HAVENT LOST ONE GAME. How can he even pretend they gave us the title? We took it from them by force.

Well seeing as how he's already being "knocked by other members" and I know he doesn't post in Politics, I'll give these comments all the attention they deserve.........none.

So.... the table lied last year, but not this year, eh?

This is the hypocrisy I can't stand.

And Giggs should just worry about keeping his place. (not that he sucks, just that it would do for him to have somebody behind him pushing for his spot)

I apologize on behalf of Ryan, obviously he's taking the piss.

Maybe if some of our players didn't think they were entitled to the trophy, some of them would step it up to get it back.

Wenger and some of the Arsenal players said the same thing last year. Not a biggie. Print out the article and post it in the dressing room - just gives our boys the incentive to beat the rest of the teams in the league and win the titles back-to-back.

As for TAKK's response - whatever.

My only problem with Arsenal this year would be the teams that played them. Not all, but a lot of teams decided to just sit back and let Arsenal win, or pray for a 0-0 draw. Teams rarely decided to go forward and attack them, because if they had, Lemon (regardlesss of the two quality centre-backs in front of him) would have allowed a fair share more goals. Leicester went quite a bit towards provign this a few days back, when they had ntohing to lose when they went 1-0 up because it didn't matter if they won or lost; then they sat back and allowed Arsenal back in it. This is not a knock on Arsenal - they still had to go out there and score consistently, which they certainly did. They were a class above this year (although you have to admit that injuries & the Rio ban were titanic knocks to ManU), and their consistency meant they deserved the title.

The table never lies - Arsenal were the better team this year.

I just want to comment on this part. Although Spain has great parity, Germany is much like the EPL (Bremen are a surprise, but so were Arsenal in 97/98) and Italy isn't exactly the most well-divided league. The bottom team (Ancona, I think) have got something like 8 or 9 points ALL SEASON unless they have hit a rich vein of form recently. Outside of Italy's top few (Juve, Milan, Inter, Roma, Lazio, Parma) what real contenders are there? Hell, Lazio & Parma aren't even contenders anymore and debts could see them go far down the table i nthe comign years. The French Ligue 1... you've got to be kidding me? Although the league has decent parity, you seem to think that the #12 side could beat the EPL's #12 team. The EPL has a much higher quality of play than Ligue 1, which anybody who has not been labomotised lately will tell you.

At least you're not a Manchester United fan, I can give thanks for that.

it requires luck to do what we did, but it requires a huge amount of skill as well. last season we had our chance, we threw away a, what, 8-point lead? manure put together an amazing run and arsenal became way too complacent last season and that was why arsenal lost the title. however, mancs will always say that manu won the title, which from one angle i can see, and gooners will always say that they lost it. it's an impossible argument. so i wouldn't call it hypocrisy, motterman, just point of view. and billy, i agree with 99% of what you just said, the remaining 1% is just because you support manure ;)

I am not so sure that those are real Giggs' quotes. I mean, there are far too many complete sentences to have come from Giggs himself.

Congrats on the AMAZING season. I've loosely supported Arsenal since ~97 (when a Dutch friend was following them because of Bergkamp), and I feel so lucky to have been turned on to them just to see how beautifully they can play.

Hey, ManU won last year, fair and square. No complaints from me. It's always good strategy to not lose after December 26. Arsenal proved that this year.

I think the reason teams stay back and don't press is because Arsenal is, well, Arsenal. How many teams can afford to get into a scoring match with them? Not many, and so teams who absolutely know they're not going to win a shoot out just hang back and hope it's still tied with a few minutes left and maybe thay can get a goal off the counter. Arsenal's offense causes teams to pack it in, making Arsenal's defense better. The best defense is a good offense, or so the saying goes.

Sorry to break this to you but I'm sure his sig says he supports "any team with US players in it". So you qualify.

Let's hope his limited knowledge of football doesn't stretch to the Arsenal youth team!

Thats exactly the same winge Wenger had a few years ago when Man U were winning the title. Sorry but it didnt cut it then and it doesnt cut it now. Man U have been awesome in years gone by and this year Arsenal were awesome, making excuses like that is stupid.

Fair points Billy. I can think of another team that played like Leicester did against Arsenal...ie., attacked at first, got a goal, then sat back and defended the rest of the match. Only...for this team....it worked to perfection. Sound like someone you know? ;)
    Good luck against Millwall.

That is true. How Leicester played didn't really annoy me, I was quite happy to see them give it a go. their sitting back was a good tactical move, but just the fact that that allowed Arsenal back in the match (and that is how so many teams let Arsenal win) just made it the icing o nthe cake of a frustratingly (for me) great season for the Gooners.
