A new season of 24 starts tonight at 9:00.

I loved that show last year. I hope the new season can be as good as last season.

    It's the show.

See the first ep already. Superb stuff, don't want to spoil definite surprises that happens just in the first 60 minutes.

Yeah, you should be able to get it. Be forewarned: you will go to great lengths NOT to miss an episode after the first hour. 24 is the one saving grace of Fox after they cancelled the Family Guy and Undeclared.

You can always pick up season 1 on DVD. Has anyone checked it out yet?

I thought 24 was certainly the best new show on TV last season, although I thought the storyline dragged out on occasion beginning in hour 14 or so. Originally, the show was only scheduled for 13 episodes, but Fox ordered the remaining 11 "hours" once they found out the show was a hit (at least in terms of critics, if not ratings); which is probably why the last few episodes were not nearly as good as the first 11 or so.

I also thought that Dennis Hopper has the worst fake accent in the history of broadcast television, but that is potentially another discussion.

All that being said, the show is very addictive, and people should be able to pick up on everything even if they didn't watch the first season.

Tonight's episode certainly did not disappoint. What a great show.

I didn't watch last year, but I'd heard good things, so I gave it a shot tonight. Have to say, I was fairly underwhelmed. Not that it was bad, exactly, but I found most of the subplots to be pretty standard Hollywood fluff. Many of the characters seemed like paper cut out dolls, and the acting was pretty uneven. Kiefer is certainly the best thing on the show, and the best scenes involved him.

Anyway, I'll probably check it out again next week to see if it improves, but I'm exactly "hooked" as I thought I might be.

Holy crap i love this show!

24, The Simpsons, and The West Wing are the only shows I must watch on television.

Should we start putting [R]s in the subject line the next day? ;)

Props to Ford for letting that go commercial free. My girlfriend noticed how they still did the clock ticks right before the normal commercial breaks - I'm guessing this was a late decision by Ford?

We'll see how the new characters play out (could there have been more blonde girls in the first episode? ;)), but Dennis Haysbert gets my vote for best fictional president. I've always been a fan of his story line. From start to finish, his was the most interesting last season. I also hope to see Carlos Bernard (Tony Almeida) more involved this season.

The first episode was probably shot months ago. Ford announced this about one or two months ago but at that time the episode was probably already completed.

Anyone notice all the Ford cars? I think the only non-Ford cars were the Hummers and the Porsche/Benz driven by psycho dad.

By the way, psycho dad instantly became the most disturbing character on the show

Reading some stories on this show prior to yesterday, they're already on ep 10 filming-wise.

In case anyone (like me, for example) f***ed up setting his VCR and didn't see the episode, it looks like they'll be replaying the previous week's episodes on Monday nights at 11 ET on FX.

I was a little groggy when I woke up and was getting ready for work yesterday morning, but I still have no idea how I managed to not record anything at all. I've set the wrong channel and/or wrong time before, but when I got home and checked last night, I hadn't set the vcr to record anything. Oh well.

No kidding with the blonde chicks...my wife and I both commented on it.

I have to disagree with the the president actor though. Didn't find him a lick convincing, and his way deep voice starting bugging me. It actually sounded like it was picking up distortion at times, a la Nigel Tufnel's guitar hook up.

I only saw about 10 minutes total of the first season, so I made a concerted effort to sit down and watch it. I have to say that I like it alot and the hour just seemed to whizz by. I'm looking forward to the future episodes and depending on how well they grab me I'll probably need to run out and buy the Season One DVD set.

Not that it was action packed or anything, but the first hour of the 2nd season made every hour in the first season look amatuerish. That was great stuff. Something I'd suggest, at least this works best for me as I figured out halfways through last season, don't watch the "next week on 24..." Yeah, I know it's hard to change the channel, but at least for me, it makes the next show 10x better cause I have no clue what to expect and I don't have a week to think of how this and that is going to happen.

But I think that is going to be a common trend this season, making the first season look amatuerish. It was a concept show last year so the writers had no experience doing it. They also just wrote as they went along like a soap opera would, not like a movie does. I'm sure this season they have the whole story planned out from 1-24, last season they just had a general idea as to what was going to happen in the first half (1-12), then Fox told them a few weeks before the 2nd half started, "Hey, we're gonna keep you around, start writing the rest." So they then figured up the general story for 13-19. But even when they were writing 19 they hadn't set in stone who the mole was going to be.

The difference between the two seasons was apparent right away. My roomate even commented on how much better that episode was than any she saw last season which was only a few. I am so psyched for this season, and seeing that in the first episode Jack just straight up shot that dude for whatever reason I have no clue, I think we're in for a great, great season. "We're gonna need a hacksaw." Say what!?!?!? LOL. That was a genuis move on FOX's part cause there won't be anyone who watched the first episode that doesn't tune into the 2nd one to see why the hell he did that and what the hell he's gonna need a freaking hacksaw for!

What's the over/under on the episode # Jack's daughter gets kidnapped in? 3? Or is that the number of times she'll be kidnapped in the 24 hours? Nah... too low if last season was any indication, haha.

There's a new one ?. The last one was only shown here a few months ago.

Is it with the same people, or a completely different story ?.

Yeah, takes place roughly a year or so later. Palmer is Pres and it has to do with a potential terrorist attack and that's all I'll tall ya. :)

    Re: Re: 24

The reason I like Palmer (I guess I'll just start referring to the character names...probably easier that way) so much is that he plays the idealistic man surrounded by those with evil intentions very well (the battles with his wife and advisors last season, and already refraining from bringing in the military in the first episode.) Plus, I love it when he comes up to people and looks like he's going to rip someone's head off - the restrained intensity makes the character more interesting than if he was just yelling and everyone.

The part where Jack capped that dude in the last episode was definitely the "Oh my God!" moment of the last episode. Those moments will keep viewers returning week after week. However, with this show, it isn't a surprise for the sake of one - they'll actually develop that moment into a story.

She looks pretty good in underwear and a t-shirt in the first show.

A friend of mine and I were watching the show together Tuesday night. We both said DAMN at the same time when he shot the guy. The DAMNs were repeated a few seconds later when Bauer requested a hacksaw.

24 is the one show on television that I make sure I'm home when it's on, so I don't miss it.
