I'm willing to bet that had the games been held here we could have equaled or out-drawn LAFC and Philly.
I went to a Philadelphia website to see what the attendance was yesterday. Oh my, they have some bitter fans. Hilarious. Of course, that’s the city where they held an Easter egg hunt and they booed the kids who didn’t find any eggs. My wife is from Philly and we lived there for four years. Interesting indeed. Great cheesesteaks and Jewish delis.
With Leagues Cup play behind the Rapids it's time to think about the final quarter of the MLS schedule. A balance between home and away matches in the final eight games starting at Dallas Saturday followed by a break the following week before finally returning home to host Portland on the 14th. Here's a look at the schedule: @ Dallas Portland @KFC Toronto @minnesota LA Galaxy (Weds game) Seattle @ Austin All but one are v Western Conference opponents with only one against a team above them in the standings (LA Galaxy). Here's the standings as of today: The Rapids have multiple teams hot on their heals with only one point separating them from Seattle and three from Vancouver who has a couple of matches in hand. Looks like it's going to be a challenge to hold onto that fourth spot.

No slight intended to DNVR, but C38 is working on their own version of a shirt if you want to halp contribute to the group.
With his assist on the @ColoradoRapids' game-winning goal tonight, Djordje Mihailovic became the second player (Mark Chung in 2002) in club history to produce at least 10 goals and 10 assists in a single season. pic.twitter.com/Oc2cpLo8uh— MLS Communications (@MLS_PR) September 1, 2024
The news of the week is no Rapids got a call-up for the upcoming USMNT friendlies. I really thought that Zach Steffen would get the call and perhaps Mihailovic as well. There were four keepers brought in some of whom are very young. Now, it's members of the old staff making the decisions as Pochettino hasn't hasn't arrived yet, so perhaps he and his staff will have a different philosophy. The good news is that the squad will finally be able to rest after a very busy August. I assume that there's little to no training this week.
From the Weekly Schedule email to media: Team Schedule - Week of September 1-8 Subject to change Date Time (MT) Event Mon., Sept. 2 -- Off Day Tues., Sept. 3 -- Off Day Wed., Sept. 4 -- Off Day Thurs., Sept. 5 -- Off Day Fri., Sept. 6 -- Off Day Sat., Sept. 7 -- Off Day Sun., Sept. 8 -- Off Day
I think Jackson Travis was dealing with cramps in the FC Dallas match. As for Vines, it's a hamstring and thus it could be a while before he can go again. We most likely won't hear anything more about either this week with the team getting a break from training.
Not gonna lie, I think Travis should start for a bit. Vines has been…shaky…lately. Travis did a fine job against Dallas, and I think he provided more overall defensive coverage underneath. He also showed good recovery speed, and had some dribbling moments in the attacking 3rd. Give Jackson a shot, I say. Might spark something in Vines to help us get the old Vinesy back
Time for some apologies https://view-from-the-couch.blogspot.com/2024/09/time-for-some-apologies.html
I don't think anyone above Armas in the organization has earned an apology for anything. Who's to say the coach hiring wasn't just a Hail Mary that happened to work out? Pablo and Fraser had good years too. The FO needs to show this is sustainable. History shows they have a habit of blowing up good rosters a year later, and then proceed to ignore multiple transfer windows.
Since we’re on the topic of LB…who would yall rather have? This years Vines or ‘21/‘22 Lucas Esteves? Vines getting paid a guaranteed $862k this year. I believe Esteves was on $369k.
If you’re tired of politics, some Rapids news for you: BREAKING: The Colorado Rapids have signed American defender Reggie Cannon, per sources.Cannon, 26, has 28 caps with USMNT. Left QPR this summer and was a free agent. I’m told his agreement to leave QPR was set on Aug 14, making him eligible to be signed as a free agent now. pic.twitter.com/yl56XImwrR— Tom Bogert (@tombogert) September 11, 2024
A few days a go I was listening to Pádraig on "The Conversation" and he hinted that there could be another move in the works this season. I was trying to figure out what he might bee up to. Now I know.
Cannon is pretty versatile. He can lineup at either RB or LB and is comfortable played CB in a three man back line. Nice pickup if you ask me. Off topic…but he’s coming off a whole ass saga and lost a court battle vs his old employer Boavista. In a nutshell, he claimed he wasn’t paid by Boavista and lobbied to be released so he could sign with QPR. Boavista paid some settlement to him but it was determined Cannon wasn’t actually a free agent at the time he started talking to QPR. It went to court and it was as determined he violated something and he has to pay some restitution at Boavista. That somehow led to a mutual termination of his QPR contact. It’s all convoluted and hard to fully understand.
