Swansea at Hillsborough tomorrow. They (Swansea) haven't won in their last four and haven't scored in their last three. From what I've read, Wednesday weren't too bad in the loss to Burnley; let down by poor finishing and conceding on a couple of mistakes, as opposed to being badly outplayed and under constant pressure. I'd like to think a home win isn't too much to hope for - not that I'd put money on it.
Just off work. Nil-nil at the half. Swansea dominating possession, but don't appear to be doing much with it. Four shots for each, none on goal. Let's see if Danny makes any changes at the half. 30% possession can't be the plan.
I was really hoping that this one would be on espn+ today, as it's the only Friday game in the Championship, and more importantly, I'm off work and could've watched. Oh well. Pompey really struggling; and while Wednesday aren't playing badly overall, they're really struggling in front of goal. If Ugbo (or any of 'em) could find his scoring boots, movement up the table would be reasonably swift. I'm kind of wishing that Cadamarteri hadn't been loaned out to Lincoln - not that he's really tearing it up there, either (2 in 8). Forwards need to play regularly with their unit to find form, and Rohl's constant switching up front is making it difficult for any of them to do so; though it's understandable that he's just looking for anyone to start scoring. Going back to August, Pompey have scored more than one only once in their last eight (2 v QPR), so you'd think that just one might do it for Wednesday, and two would make it very tough on their hosts. But two for Wednesday seems a big ask these days, as well. ... I've just read back through what I've typed, and I realize that I've said virtually nothing. UTO.
Beadle Valentin Palmer Bernard Famewo M Lowe S Charles Bannan Musaba Windass Smith Substitutes | P Charles, Iorfa, Valery, Johnson, Ingelsson, Paterson, Gassama, Ugbo, J Lowe Loads of chopping and changing (again), but it's not as though you can say that there's been much in prior lineups to make them immune to it. Hopefully Danny finds something that works soon enough.
Wednesday concede late in a first half that had appeared fairly comfortable until then. **sigh** 1-0 HT. Not looked like scoring, though, at all, according to commentary on OO. Front three not interlinking at all ... again. 45 minutes to find something, I suppose.
Portsmouth 1-2 Wednesday. FT. Get in! What a result that is. Windass and Smith ... and after I'd been criticizing the forwards and their finishing. Nice one, Wednesday.
Down a goal early, I figured that was that. But they pulled one back on the hour, and played with them throughout the second half. Going to penalties now.
Shit. Out on penalties. Brentford hit all five. Wednesday made their first four, but Palmer's effort was saved. Excellent performance. No reward.
My thoughts too. I had to go to Cookeville so i didn't get to see the match. At least now we can focus on the season.
Not good. Saw the score at halftime (1-1) and continued working thinking things looked good ... more possession ... more shots ... etc. Just off work and checked the result ... I'm flying out Monday and will be there Tuesday night for the Naarch game. I'm guessing the mood around Hillsborough will be less than optimal. Pigs away the following weekend, so will Danny pick Tuesday's side with that in mind? I hope to see a strong side and strong performance. I was more confident of that a few minutes ago.
Hope to. Sat in that London awaiting the train up north. Get a few pints in at the New Barracks Tavern pre-match and hope for a result.
Wednesday were very good. Naarch never really threatened, even though wednesday let them have possession most of the second half. Ubo's miss aside, nothing to dislike about the game. Pints with a few of the OA lads, as well. Nice one, Wednesday.
