Poveda and Ugbo rumored as close to being done, according to Walkley on OO. Get those two in (three weeks before the season kicks off, to boot) and I'd say it's been a very good Summer. Chansiri clearly backing the manager. Malik Wilks being linked to Port Vale (where Byers has gone), as well. You'd think both Byers and Wilks wouldn't be inclined to drop down to the 4th tier, but they must have liked working with Moore. I don't know anything about Port Vale's finances, but you'd think they're pushing the boat out with signings like these. Hopefully Moore has them clicking over quickly or he might find himself under pressure. Vale are one of those clubs that I've always kind of liked (based upon nothing, at all), and I like Darren Moore, so good luck to them.
Poveda has signed with Sunderland. Slightly disappointing, but with his fitness issues, the reluctance to splash out out is understandable. Move on.
I'm more concerned about Ugbo ... https://www.sheffieldwednesday.news...da-joins-sunderland-over-sheffield-wednesday/ Says he favors a return to Yorkshire...
According to The Sun, Troyes is demanding 4.5m for Ugbo. If Wednesday can't get them (significantly, I'd think) down from that, I doubt we'll see him at Hillsborough come August.
The Star now saying Ugbo is close to done, for something around 2.5m pounds. Folks on OO were saying yesterday that he'd been seen in Sheffield. As ever, I'll believe it when it's done ... but sounds are encouraging.
Good start to the season and top of the league, do you think you're looking good enough for a playoff/promotion season or is it just Rooney doing what he does best at Plymouth?
That's the question, isnt it? Wednesday are going up as Champions, or Plymouth will be down by March. Maybe both ... but at least one of 'em.
Wednesday were probably one of the form teams latter half of last season so if you can keep up the form you could well be up there.
Yeah, I think a lot of fans have been trying to rein in their expectations recently, as they've had a good summer following on from last winter/spring. I've seen a few saying 'playoffs may be too much to ask. Top half will be a big step forward. Today's result will make that harder.
Loads of changes, and still a win on the road. Didn't see it, but from what I'm hearing (er, reading), it was another encouraging performance. Don't wanna get carried away, or anything, but Wednesday are gonna piss this division.
for how long did we lock down Rohl? he just might be an actual gem and top cailber manager in the years to come. if he is, i don't want to lose him for nothing short of a king's ransom. it's a weird feeling to have full confidence that the manager is going to make the right decisions. i say that as both a wednesday and sporting kc fan. neither have a great recent track record of manager's. actually, i kind of take that back. i liked carvajal however many years ago that was. anyone kept up with him since he moved on? where is he at these days?
Just returned to Braga ... again. It's his third time there, I believe. Did well last time, if I recall correctly.
Man U reject Charlie McNeil had one easy goal, one hard goal. But if he can progress to be a guy that can let Ugbo rotate and get 7-10 goals in all comps, then things will be real good.
