I can't keep up. Chansiri can't pay the staff ... he's turning down offers for the club ... Rohl is still under contract ... but is out whoring himself all over Germany, while no one looks likely to pay his escape clause ... ... who knows what comes next?
sigh. why is it so hard to not have people dragging this club down? it's always something, isn't it? this club is exhausting.
Sheffield Wednesday: Ex-owner Milan Mandaric plans Owls takeover bid - BBC Sport Former owner/chairman Milan Mandaric is apparently trying to put something together to buy the club from Chansiri. I'd have that. Like, in a heartbeat. Critics will say the he's just trying to make himself a few quid (fair enough) and will run the club on a shoestring until he can move it on to whomever will make him that money. But last time (when he saved the club from administration), he said he'd leave the club in better shape than when he bought it, and he did ... however poorly it ended up being run a few years down the line. Not sure what he can do, seeing as Chansiri seems to be rebuffing every reasonable offer, but unlike the other 'buyers' being rumored, Mandaric tends to get these kind of things done. I'm not optimistic, but it's better than everything else I've been reading.
Posted by Walkley this morning over on OO: We are approaching the end game, moves being made behind the scenes and things will change soon. One thing you've got to give Walkley, he doesn't post nonsense about Wednesday. Other posters, perhaps but not Wednesday. This won't have been conjecture, but based upon something. He certainly knows folks who know things. So while I won't presume that anything's getting done, I do expect something's going on. Knowing that he wouldn't disclose any more than that, someone asked whether he (Walkley) would be pleased with what appears to be coming. Walkley's response was, 'we'd be in a lot safer hands'. The one thing that this clearly infers is that whatever's coming has nothing to do with Adam Shaw (who's been making loads of noise about taking over the club), simply because it's very clear that Walkley has no time for Shaw. Whether it's anything to do with Mandaric, I have no idea. I'm thinking that he (Walkley) has been critical of Mandaric's previous tenure at Wednesday, so I'm not sure whether he'd consider him 'safer hands' or not. Maybe I've conjured that; but it's definitely not Shaw. I'm not sure what all that's worth. It is just heresay ... coming from me, at least. But the big fear has been that Chansiri is just rebuffing any interests, with neither any intention of selling nor of actively moving the club forward. And this does suggest that those fears, at least, are unfounded. Fingers crossed.
This was posted today by a fella (Casbah Owl) on OO: Had this sent to me from a mate in MCR, no affiliation to SWFC & who makes a living playing poker on the invitation only circuit across the uk Latest from the Genting Club……… Beginning of last week, after ongoing negotiations, a verbal agreement between Chansiri & US/UK consortium was reached. At the eleventh hour Chansiri asked for the agreed payment structure to be changed from £3m per month to £5m per month & his agreed retained shareholding in SWFC increased from 10% to 30%! The consortium withdrew the offer & the EFL, who were involved in the negotiations & were less than impressed imposed the maximum 3 transfer window ban on SWFC! This made Chansiri’s bargaining position considerably weaker & he’s desperately trying to resurrect the original deal. Meetings in London with all the relevant parties present in person scheduled for all this week ….. I’m guessing there are elements of truth to this ……… I’ve not heard anything from this lad, who’s a friend of a friend & who doesn’t even follow football, in over a year. Obviously, I'm just repeating stuff that's out there, and since 99% of it all turns out to be nonsense, it's doubtful that I'm providing any kind of worthwhile service, here. But this one kind of resonates, so maybe there's something in it. If so, the endgame may be playing out this week. If not, it's just more stuff. Fingers crossed, though.
Also, it seems that Thursday is the day from which Danny Rohl will be in violation of contract if he doesn't return to work at Hillsborough. All kinds of 'will he/won't he?' speculation as to whether he comes back. On this one, apparently, we will know this week.
