Maybe he should concentrate on giving his club team a chance at WINNING before he moves up to the next level. Sporting sits dead last in the league, no?

I'll withhold judgment on the Bunbury pick until I see the rest of the forward roster. I hope we won't have to rely on Teal in a big game because I don't think he's ready to be a consistent contributor for us yet, but he has a lot of potential. I think Bob is including him with an eye on grooming him for the future. Ditto Agudelo, although I have more faith in Juan to contribute at the moment.

On another note, I caught a little bit of the Revs/Quakes game last night. Boy, the Revs sure have some bad athletes on their team. They have a number of big, slow, lumbering players who must have been the MLS norm when the league first started. They badly need an infusion of speed and talent. Joseph and Benny are clearly a cut above the rest of their roster.

Final guesses as to BB's choices:
    Keepers (3): Howard, Guzan, Yeldell
Defenders (8): Boca, Dolo, Spector, Ream, Goodson, Lichaj, Chandler, Gooch
MF (8): MB, Jones, Edu, Feilhaber, Donovan, Dempsey, Bedoya, Kljestan
F (4): Bunbury, Agudelo, Altidore, Buddle

I'd like Torres in there for Kljestan, but I bet BB & Co. go with Sacha. I could also see DeMerit going, but not sure at the expense of whom.

Very interesting comparing the 2007 squad from 4 years ago and the potential one announced tomorrow...

    GK:
    Howard
    Keller
Guzan (Would be on the roster tomorrow, wedding plans will decide)

    DF:
    Hejduk
    Boca
    Demerit
    Bornstein
    Simek
    Parkhurst
    Spector
    Onyewu

    MF:
    Mastro
    Feilhaber
    Beasley
    Bradley
    Landon
    Ralston
    Clark
    Mapp

    FW:
    Dempsey
    EJ
    Ching
    Twellman

I count 10 (9 if no Guzan) of the 23 from 2007 potentially making it this time around...Lot of turnover obviously.

Also interesting is that around half the roster played in MLS at the time.

Looks interesting, IMO, I think tomorrows squad will be stronger.

That is why I think that if we don't win it then Bob should be fired.

Although I am pro-bob.. I support your message. I think no matter the name. If we didn't come away with the hardware the coach should be only given a one way ticket.

It's time to solidify our worthiness, no settling for mediocrity against the average.

Sorry to interrupt... But what if you guys lose in the Finals vs. us (Mexico)? Should Bob get fired then? Would you losing to us in a hard fought game still be "settling for mediocrity against the average"? or would that be more acceptable?

No, because Mexico is what you base the "better" on. If we are talking about them then yes even more so.

Not for me. Mexico are the better team. A loss to them, assuming not a 5-0 demolition, isn't an indication of a coach failing. Losing in the semis or quarters though is a different story.

Completely irrelevant on USA forum in a thread about the 2011 Gold Cup, though I know you know that. Do better.

I agree with this. Mexico is a good team. It's not like we're 100% guaranteed to beat them. Anyone who follows this sport knows that the best team doesn't always win. A manager's job shouldn't hinge on one game.

I think Bob is a decent coach. He might be limited in terms of tactics and squad selection, but he casts a wide net and generally does an astute job of identifying talent. It's not his fault that we have a mediocre player pool.

You got me. I guess I missed the US National team game where Bunbury had a direct impact in helping the US WIN. Which game was that again? It would be helpful if you CAPITALIZED the opponent, date and result so some of us can understand what you're talking about more clearly. Thanks.

Mexico is not the better team! We have a much better midfield and goalie and they have better strikers and defense. I think we are pretty damn even.

Wow, you actually suck at this. At first I thought it was deliberate but now I see it might actually be out of your control.

You never even acknowledged my proposition that Bunbury provides the team a better chance of than other forwards in the US pool.

Why would I continue to go into detail when you seem content replying with irrelevant drivel?

Enough of the meaningless bickering. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, and just because you disagree doesn't mean you should start putting those opinions down. It's petty and isn't conducive to fostering a united atmosphere. We are all supposedly USA fans.

I don't know dude. My "irrelevant drivel" consisted of showing Bunbury's stats. You know, facts. You said that you couldn't care less if he doesn't score very often. I guess you have a hunch or a gut feeling that he provides the team a better chance of winning. I've ignored your little jabs because I'd like to see you express exactly why you think Teal is more deserving than the handful of other options that have done much more in their careers.

    12 EST, according to goal.com

Also, Guzan is officially out. Not sure if that was already known, I knew he was iffy at best.
